WB to announce Superman/Batman & JLA movies

**Please tone down the grim dark sh1t from everything WB**

Not all heroes in the DC-movieverse have to be (nolan)batman

last thing we need is for characters that are light hearted and joking in the comics like "flash" to be these emotional, troubled souls, having dark personalities for no reason other than to follow the "nolan" foot print.

MOS was certainly darker/grim than the previous films, but still not as dark as Nolan's Batman. Superman's origin WAS definitely pretty grim, since his whole race died.

I believe we'll get a more light, fun based movies when Metal Men and Flash come out. If they ever do.

I think it was deliberate to make the film gritty/dark. Specially with nolan as a consultant.
Look how much focus whatever dark details of supermans life got. His origin, dads death, etc. The whole film using the subtle desaturated colors technique. the whole blue-grey tint coating the film uses. They knew exactly the tone they wanted the audience to experience.
If you look at their comic histories, superman and batman are total polar opposites.
supes is a boy scout , batman not so much.
batman operates at night, supes in day light.
batman comics comics use alot of dark, colors, superman comics are litered with bright colors like his uniform.

Opposites. But you wouldn't know that by watching their current films.
My guess is that all up coming dc characters will get the same "gritty" treatment , sadly.

Yeah, I forgot Nolan was the producer, but I really like a lot of those elements you mentioned. MOS was is in my top 5 SH films, so I'm not complaining.

But, to say all of the DC heroes will follow the same suit is a little premature. But, who knows, maybe they will do the same formula.

It worked for Spider-Man. 😛

Well to be fair Marvel has picked this Light hearted fun tone for their Universe, and that's been true for all it's movies, to the extent where they made Hulk a fun character with a fun tone in The Avengers. Why? Because that was the tone of The Avengers and Marvel's shared Universe. And it worked. Marvel haven't done a Grim Dark movie yet, so I don't think we should jump to criticize WB for not having done a more fun DC movie yet, when they've only done a couple of films.

And I think when your making it a shared universe, there has to be a consistency in the tone of that universe. So they need to pick their overall tone that works for them and stick to it, for the shared Universe part at least. (I've heard the Shazam movie wouldn't be part of the Shared Universe, and that obviously can't be dark and gritty.)

But then they can still diverge to an extent. Cap2 certainly had a more serious tone than all the other Marvel movies, and I'm sure we will get DC movies with a more fun tone further down the line. But just chill out, so far we've only has MOS and TDK Trilogy(which isn't even part of the shared universe). Oh but there was GL which actually didn't take itself seriously. But no one cares about that movie.

The truly grim movies at Marvel are the X-Men films. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, only Iron Man and Captain America have some ominous, grim shadings to the overall story (terrorism, espionage and government shadow cabinets creating paranoia) but the work of RDJ lightens the mood considerably. The Winter Soldier has been the most Nolan-like of the Marvel films to date.

The Hulk films were dark & twisted, in the classic tortured monster sense, but both were considered mixed bags by audiences and critics. After what we saw in Avengers, going forward successfully with the Hulk will be all about Banner & Hulk working together - 'How I learned to stop worrying and love the Hulk.' 😄

Conversely, when DC & Warners tried to get fun and goofy with Green Lantern, it backfired (that, plus a terribly fractured storyline.) A better balanced should be struck. Unfortunately, Zack Snyder won't be the one to lighten things up, going forward with the Justice League characters.

What I meant is find the right balance.
If they want to stay true to the comics then a balance is needed.
In the comics you have emotional sequences, action, seriousness, etc. and all mixed in that stuff humor and lightheartedness. Even in the face of danger and death you have the random joke and one liner thrown in. That's how comic books are.
Some movies have gone overboard like green lantern and parts in thor and iron man movies. Avengers have a pretty good balance imo.
Cap2 was good and cap works being a bit gritty.
Superman on the other hand , shouldn't be gritty at all. Unless its Prime. Then the MOS tone was perfect.
I hear people already complaining about the tone in the upcoming guardians of the galaxy. Obviously they haven't ready a guardians book or read any of their comic appearances. Because they have a light heated tone. I hope they dont go overboard with the goofyness though. as long as it has a good balance.
On the other hand Nolan and friends do their best to try to make the audience forget that they are watching a comic book movie with colorful characters and outlandish powers and abilities.
Instead of finding ways to utilize the fantasy element properly to make the movie be true to the comics , I think they see this as an obstacle they must overcome.

That's why Cap 2 is so good. They toned it down with the humor. Humor is good, of course, but Marvel tends to go overboard sometimes.

Yeah but to be fair Marvel can also screw up that balance at times. IM3 being a prime example for me. So it's clearly not an easy thing to get right.

If there will be a total of 12 movies in all, then the possibility of a Batman movie is up there. As for the others? We'll just have to wait and see.

Not like you want another Batman movie (seeing as you don't like the actor in charge). 😛
