Guys, there is no way this movie will fail. Seriously. It's way to early to have this big of a reaction. Let's just wait and see. He could suck or he could be great. We won't know until the movie is further along. But to imply that this movie is going to fail simply because Affleck has been cast as Batman before the script is even done...well...take a deep breath...calm down...and stop being melodramatic. This movie is going to be a huge success simply because Bats and Supes are going to be in the same movie. The general public LOVES Batman. They don't care what fans or fanboys think of casting decisions.

I think he may be fine, but there are still a million other people I would have picked before him.

Thad Castle?! Yeah pretty sure Hollywood can find better.
I honestly didn't like him that much in Smallbville, but after watching BMS, I have to admit, the guy has range.
There may be better out there, but I don't know if someone like, say, Matt Damon, is suitable.

Again, it's the voice problem. Nobody thinks Ben Affleck can put on a voice iconic of Bats. I have faith in Nolan that he can rectify this problem.
Bale's range became a running joke, and all Keaton had to do was lower his voice some.
I realty don't see Affleck having too much issue voice wise.
I'm more worried about that seemingly ever-present smirk the guy seems to have. It works great for Bruce; not so much for Batman.

I honestly think Affleck can do well. I think he's worked hard to get away from the stigma of JLO and some of the other things that have blighted his career. Plus, Snyder obviously doesn't mind working with him, and even if you don't like Snyder, I don't think anyone can say he isn't passionate about continuing these movies.
Hilarious you mention not liking Snyder when I just got done watching Sucker Punch on FX. That movie is trash. I've liked pretty much everything else he's done. 300 was great. Watchmen was was great, and Man of Steel was...good. I am hoping Nolan has more input than Snyder though. It's the script people need to be worrying about, not Affleck.

I think either man (and Goyer too) having too much influence is a bad idea. Snyder is an amazing director in terms of visuals, but he needs good material to work with. On the other side, I don't think Nolan has enough of a grasp of the "fantastic" that's needed for a superhero movie. They compliment each other.

I wonder how much people's view will change when he's in a movie and they show his actual powers properly.

I agree. Right now Marvel will make massive massive money even from mediocre movies like IM3. And that's due to the lack of proper competition Imo. We want competition on both sides so the quality improves on comic book movies overall.

that could very well happen..

well why shouldn;t they, its very healthy too.. its sparking debate/discussions
to something that people hold dear.. believe me Affleck is one helluva talented director but as an actor he just doesn't fit this role.. Might be wrong in 2 years but at this point I really do not think I am

After this casting choice I'm really not sure it will make much more than MOS. A lot of people just aren't hyped up for this anymore.Of course the first trailer might change all that. (I think the TDK hype really began after the first trailer).
But people were always hyped for Avengers, and there was never once any negative backlash for it as far as I remember. Plus we already knew how great RDJ, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans were in their roles.
The only changed actor was Mark Ruffalo. There was a bit of hate talk for that, but nothing on this level. And let's face it Ruffalo was never going to ruin the character since there still had not been a really successful and loved version Bruce Banner/Hulk on the big screen anyway. In fact the Avengers version was probably the first time that happened on the big screen.
Oh and I'm not convinced at all that just the name "Batman" is a guaranteed Half Billion. Batman Begin did not make that much. It's Nolan's Batman franchise that was so popular over the last few years Imo, and not just the name.
IMO, seeing the first teaser may not even hype me up, maybe the very last one.. seeing pics that WB will "leak" of him wearing the Batsuit might be the only saving grace, that and whoever his stuntman will be..

You think he will send it to Schumacher days? No offense, Bruce, I think you may be overreacting. How will Affleck playing Batman bring back the Bat-Credit-Card and ice pun cheesiness of Schumacher's films, which has nothing to do with the acting?Just remember Ledger. Nobody wanted him as the Joker, and now he's iconic in the role. Same for Tom Hardy as Bane. They can pull of anything as long as the script is right, especially with a great Oscar-winning actor like Affleck, who is great if [b]the script is right

Oh believe me I have no doubt at all it could.. Affleck just isn;t this type of actor that fits.. As for Ledger that really isn;t a good comparison since he was a very talented actor and I knew he was going to bring the role justice

Nolan's really not involved much anymore. Which is a worry. I really liked MOS. But let's face it, the script and dialogue were not perfect. If they mess up Batman in the next one, it may only go downhill from there.

Ledger is a bad comparison Imo. Simply because we didn't know everything he was capable of. I doubt Affleck still has a lot of untapped potential.

People are committing suicide because of the Ben Affleck news. If the movie wasn't hyped no one would care.

You're right here, Marvel didn't receive any backlash. Of course they did nothing to deserve such backlash but the universal praise is making some of their movies overrated. Regardless, people are still hyped about the DC Universe but there's just some skepticism.

It's mainly hyperbole. Yes Nolan made Batman even more popular there are quite a few people disappointed that Batman wasn't received enough wank. Or in more objective terms, people wanted to see a detective Batman who gives no fvcks instead of a Batman whipped by Rachel. If they write a script that's similar to the comics then the hype will be unreal. People love their Bats.

I hope that Snyder will give Aquaman hydrokinesis. I mean it would be the equivalent of Marvel giving movie Blade superpowers but better IMO.
Certainly hope that this casting direction is one of those moments where "Nolan(Snyder) knows best". But I really don't care for Batman being in the movie more than I want to see more Superman bringing the pain train. And they should really find a way to get Faora out of that black hole just so she can beat up Superman again 😄

Not sure that's a good thing.

WB has a long way to go yet before we can blindly trust that they have "a plan" with their DC heroes. I mean this is the company that thought their Green Lantern movie was a sure thing.
And even with the massive effort they put in to make MOS worked, there will still some big faults with the script/dialogue. Even though I loved the movie, I can see why a lot of people did not.

Yeah IF they stick closely to the comics. That's a big IF.
It's Nolan's Batman that was making like a Billion per film, but tbh he has put Batman back on the map, so at this point I agree any Batman will probably make a close to half a billion. But let's not kid ourselves, it will be very hard to match the love your general audience had for Nolan's Batman.
The complaints were from hardcore fans, who let's face it are not going to bring in the big money alone.

More of a subconscious reaction that anything. I'm speaking for myself when I say I've fallen for the "Nolan trap". But I think its more likely that if this movie is a outstanding success, a good portion of the credit is going to go to him.
