Honestly though; am I supposed to really believe that WB cares more about keeping Affleck than it does about the absolutely, horrendously huge amount of money that will come their way if they make a successful DC universe on screen? I mean, this is their next franchise if they play it right, and I surely can't be the only person that can see that.
Did Affleck use his connections to get some leverage and play Batman? Sure, it's possible, but really, can you blame him? Who here wouldn't want to play Batman if they felt they could do something decent with it? Hell, i'd do it.
People like to rag on Affleck for DD, and tbh, I did too at first. After watching the director's cut though, I honestly don't think his performance is really the problem with the movie at all. Does he own the role? No, he doesn't, but he's not particularly bad either. He's actually all right, once that horrible romance subplot is given less screen-time (honestly, I blame Garner more for the lack of chemistry and being a shit Elektra than I do Affleck).
Worst case scenario: Affleck is shit as Batman, and DC is pushed back years, or maybe they just recast for Justice League.
Best case scenario: We get a guy that has won Oscars for writing and directing working alongside Snyder. A guy with a proven track record of making deep, thoughtful movies. He's the IDEAL foil for Snyder, and I can't help but believe that he'll help ground Snyder, and make the movie better as a whole. The guy can play Batman imo; he just needs a chance.
If I'm wrong, then so be it.

yes... it would have better just to have him direct and not star...
if this truly does fail and it certainly might than Affleck should be to blame, after all Clooney himself blamed himself and later on commended Nolan and Bale for bringing back the character.. As I die hard Batman comic book and filmverse fan I don;t want them to frack up Batman going forward..
...and even if they do recast Affleck for the Batman solo film the damage could be done, hope not but it could very well be..
besides I have two years to keep drinking the haterade.. 😄

lol.. Bale has the best cinematic bat voice..
besides Affleck is going to use his boston accent which means his "The Town" voice

Sounds good, but coming from one of his closest friends he's probably biased.
In Kevin Smith's own Superman Lives story he scripted years ago(a few years before Batman Begins) he wanted Ben Affleck as Superman iirc, and Batman was in that story but he pictured Michael Keaton coming back for that role, saying no one can play Batman like him.

Yeah but being "Not Bad" really isn't good enough here. He needs to own it.
I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt now, but I still think this casting overall is likely a step down for Batman but probably a step up for the DC Cinematic Universe.

As long as it's a significant improvement on his Daredevil voice, I won't complain.
Hahaha, I just have to jump in and say that I think it's hilarious that the world is up in arms about Affleck signing on for Batman. Everybody hates the guy for some reason, but I've never really understood why. He's a great actor and has even proven to be an extremely competent writer/director. He knows his shit. Plus, I saw something that explained that he must have been pretty impressed with Snyder's direction on things in order to agree at all. After Daredevil flopped he stated he would never want to play another superhero. But he apparently had a very hush-hush meeting with Snyder who explained the direction they were taking that must have highly intrigued him.
I've found it very surprising because I figured after being established as a director I figured he'd be happy being behind the camera for the most part from now on. Strange. Must mean they have some pretty epic shit planned.

Lol at Affleck being a great actor.
Hey, Joss Whedon (a man who does some damn good casting) agrees...
Affleck'll crush it. He's got the chops, he's got the chin -- just needs the material. Affleck & Cavill toe to toe -- I'm in.
everybody needs to settle down.. geez.. everybody is hating on him so prematurely.. it's just right to compare him to ledger.. the doubters said heath wouldn't pull it off, he couldn't.. then afterwards, everybody was just riding his joker dick.. I think that he'll be good.. baseline decent, we'll get that for sure.. if not, then WB f*cked up..

I'm not sure how many Ledger movies you've seen prior to his role as The Joker but Heath showed that he had potential to become a very charismatic & talented actor...if he was still alive today.
Affleck on the other hand has already showed his best & worst acting abilities.
Compare Ledger in Two Hands, Candy & Lords Of DogTown to any of Affleck's films & I personally think Ledger was a better actor.

But then people say Affleck is a completely different actor now. So we'll see..
But how many other actors can you honestly say have improved or changed their style of acting?
Di Caprio's still the same.
So is Keanu, Cruise & Depp....we already know what to expect regardless of the movie or roles they play.

The only person that's come close to "owning" Batman is Kevin Conroy, imo. I don't think any one actor can own a character like that; instead, if Ben Affleck is a good Batman, I honestly think that's more than enough.

I'll take his DD voice over Bale's Batman one any day. I can't stand that anymore.

well what if Affleck talks the way he did in The Town or has a similar voice that Bale did?
