I need to see a full Affleck Batman film to judge. My only real knock on Bale was his voice, and even that at least has become a memorable meme. Every time someone imitates Batman (including myself) they use Bale's voice now and drop the hockey pads line. For me Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are still the brass ring Affleck needs to reach for, and he's not there yet based on BvS

TDK? I'm a huge Bale fan, but he looked like he was sleeping in that role.

The interactions between him and the Joker were Epic Imo. Plus he was great as Bruce Wayne.

They were OK, but Ledger completely overshadowed him. It wasn't close.

He still remains the best on screen comic villain of all time. 👆

Batman Begins was the best Batman film to date by far. Those ignoring Baleman's performance in place of one ok Batman performance in a crappy film make me laugh.

The Joker is supposed to overshadow Batman, though. Joker's loud, flamboyant, and is always the center of attention. Batman's operates in the shadows and is cold and calculating. Heath Ledger was supposed to eat up space on the screen. That's the whole point of the Joker. Just like Jack Nicholson in '89 Batman.

Nicholson is still my favorite Joker ever.

I do hope in the next Batman film we get a more cerebral type of villain so we get detective Batman. I've always wanted to see a live action adaptation of the Karl Rossum/H.A.R.D.A.C. storyline from Batman: TAS. Maybe do a film where Batman discovers someone has been replaced with a robot and he digs in deeper and discovers a larger conspiracy to replace key politicial and military figures with machines.

This works well in a comic book or cartoon but has the negative opposite effect in a hero based live action movie.
It would've worked if the movie was told from The Joker's perspective...that would've justified the villain out shining the hero.

Nah, I'd disagree. It worked fine as depicted. It's not so much that the Joker 'outshined' Batman insomuch as that the Joker, being such a big, flamboyant, zany personality, is an attention grabber. The dynamic worked fine in the film. The Joker was an anarchist trying to push Batman over the edge with an extreme escalation of violence against civilians and it didn't work. Batman still had plenty of signature scenes where Joker wasn't present (Scarecrow parking garage drug bust with 'Hockey Pads' line, Skyscraper Incursion scene in China, etc). Joker just appears to have more charisma than Batman because Batman is typically the stoic straight man and Joker's his perfect foil.

Finally hit $300mill domestic, but still struggling to get to that $800mill WW. Looks like it will take the weekend to do that. Then I won't expect it to make much more with Jungle Book out.

The only performance Bale did that was comparable, IMO was in Batman Begins. He was completely overshadowed and boring in TDK and brought it back in TDKR, but still not as good as BB.

I disagree Christian Bale in Batman Begins is still my favorite Bruce Wayne/Batman.

I've read a few things that suggests this might struggle to reach $850 million worldwide

So I wonder if WB will at least notice that the GA isn't really biting and try something else with their Flash/WW movies.

It should cross over 800 by this weekend. 10.5 this weekend, I think for domestic.

I think Bale had a lot more to work with, as good as he is.

I think Affleck gave a better balance between Batman and Bruce, though.

Yeah BvS crossed 800 million yesterday.
