Obvoiusly it's not the same canon as the movies or Lucas' script.. if it was.. then we wouldn't be throwing out parts of the book that contradict the movie. It's clearly not the same level of canon.
Point of all this sidetracking was... Mace beat Sidious and overpowered him per Lucas. Sids was trying to kill Mace and failed at doing so.

no it wasn't. Show me the quote from Lucas saying so... Lucas said SIDS TRIES TO KILL MACE WITH HIS LIGHTING. LUCAS had Stover say Sids attacked the Jedi with a fury they'd never seen. These aren't verbs and adjectives to describe soembody not trying to kill somebody. SHIT IN THE DAMN MOVIE BEFORE SIDS FIRES LIGHTING HE SAYS... YOU WILL DIE!!!!
