DE Sourcebook is old and Plagueyususis novel confirms that Sidious did not know Vitiate well and even implies he did not understand the nature of Vitiate's body hopping. Vitiate achieved what Sidious failed, which is physical longevity and effective immortality.

Sidious could kill Vitiate in combat, even if the likes of Exar Kun are far more skilled at ritualistic sorcery - the Dathomirians are in The Courtship of Princess Leia and TCW: Season 3; as well.

LOLNOPE. Vitiate owns the shit out of rooms of Sith Lords, mindrapes people across the galaxy, and mentally dominates his enemies. He's also able to erect shields to defend himself against physical attacks. Sidious hasn't shown this ability.

The Sith Emperor eliminates the Dark Council solo when some of them plot to betray him. Keyword solo. Check the respect thread.

Vitiate's reach throughout the galaxy is far more impressive. He could control minds in other planets, see visions through other jedis and siths and his voices made him unreachable.
Vitiate would go to the rebel base and consume them. Palpatine has nothing on Vitiate accept saber skills though we only assume that Vitiate is not a good dueler cause he fights with force powers only which could mean many things.

Except that it borders in legend/myth, you can't really say if he did or did not use a ritual. I just base his power with how well he did against the strike team/Revan.

..But Palpatine also has galactic reach/vision. Hell what's actually more impressive that Vader couldn't even lie to Palpatine, meanwhile Scourge could lie to Vitiate whenever he wanted as long as he kept his composure.
