Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It's less the simple story and more how they just stole the plot of other things and swapped some words around.

Finding Nemo was complicated, it was a simple plot. Fish is lost, fish needs to be found. People liked that movie.

Just because the story was simple doesn't mean it was bad. Storytelling is cyclical and borrows from itself, everything is inspired by something. I found it engaging and exciting enough and the characters compelling. Hating on avatar is the newest cool thing just because it's a critics darling with noticible flaws
I didn't day it was bad there was nothing special about it to me. Want to see more because I love high budget Sci Fi and fantasy but this movie I quickly forgot about. This is no Star Trek Into Darkness which changed me as a human being.

Avatar was immensely creative. The visuals were striking and imaginative and it was stepping into another world. The script wasn't so creative, but Avatar was a faantastic theater experience. The hate for it is too much imo, it's meant to be a visual feast

Not original? Avatar created new filmmaking technologies and revolutionized CGI.

While there's no question Force Awakens is a superior movie to the prequels, I would argue that it's less original. The prequels were visual masterpieces for the late 90s and early 2000s and really contributed to the development of CGI technology and to the filmmaking future. Force Awakens was an emotional and beautiful rehash of what came before, but didn't push any boundaries.

I know you hate the Prequels, so I applaud you for your Objective post here.

Cameron is just pissed the Force Awakens is the number 1 film ever in the USA.

Doubt it. Avatar is still the biggest movie of all time. And it's not even close.

In fact TFA isn't even 2nd, Cameron's Titanic is. And he's the creator of Terminators 1&2, arguably the greatest pure Sci-Fi films of all time. So the guy deserves some serious respect for his film accomplishments. And he's clearly not sitting around being butt hurt over anything.

Force Awakens is the number 1 film in the USA is what I was talking about.

I know that, but you're saying Cameron's pissed about that which I doubt.

Besides if you adjust for inflation, Titanic is still ahead of TFA domestically:

And Worlwide Avatar seems to be ahead of even the Original Star Wars:

So really nothing for Cameron to be butt hurt about Lol.

Both Cameron films had amazing runs. Avatar 2 will probably be the biggest movie ever when it comes out.

I doubt it.

Avatar was shit, is shit, and will always be shit. I used to like James Cameron for his Terminator movies. Titanic was overrated as hell and Avatar just sucks ass.

Nah, the excitement for it didn't last. Was more a one-off mega hit, than a cultural changing Saga like Star Wars was IMO.

Doubt it though internationally from what I've heard this is going to do some serious box office damage.

I just have no clue what Avatar 2 will do.

I hope the latest plot leak is wrong. Sounds stupid if true.

I'm sure its in one of my star wars fb groups, but just in case, pm me the alleged plot leak

I can just post it here i guess.

The thing that gives this "leak" relevance , is that there are 2 set pics that back up the leak.

***Spoiler***
Here is the full leak description:

Spoiler:

In the scene Luke tells Rey that the Jedi Council became “arrogant” and that they were hiding a “secret,” which led to their demise. The old Jedi master takes Rey’s hand and shows her a glimpse into the past. They see two children playing near a tree on an alien planet. The boy noticed that he had greater strength and intuition when he was closer to this tree. The girl noticed that the tree also made her brother increasingly angry. One day an argument breaks out between the children, and the boy kills the girl. The boy touches the tree and is “transformed.” He kills his parents and leaves the planet. Meanwhile the girl is revealed to be alive, transformed by the tree as well, using her power to start the first Jedi Order. The girl explains how The Force can be used for both good and evil. She tells her followers that one day she would return as either a boy or a girl, and that they should train this child. Luke tells Rey that the Jedi Order had been searching for The One (reincarnation of the original founder of the Jedi) for a millennia. When they found Anakin Skywalker and thought that he would bring balance to The Force, the Jedi were “deceived” and the Clone Wars were the result. The scene also shows Rey’s parents, and Luke is not the father. Luke tells her how she was identified as strong with The Force, and how she was supposed to begin her training, but never reached her destination for an unknown reason. In the scene Luke gives Rey a choice, and she has till sunset to make it.

A magic F-ing tree?

Its reasons like this why I hate MODERN Sci Fi.

Sounds like a load of BS TBH. Disney isn't going to bring back that plot point after the reception it received in the PT.

First thing that popped into my mind was the Disney is ripping off Avatar TLAB.

^ Just read the magic tree part by fly tractor. There was a force sensitive plant/tree Luke left with Poe's parents in a canon post Jedi comic.
