Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Go get your eyes checked.

One is a straight crossguard with saber blades. The other is a single saber blade pointing up diagonally.

I was being facetious, there is a minor similarity, but that doesn't mean it was based off of it.

I think it was probably based off, well, longswords, lol.

PVS half-assed 'shooping of it makes it look pretty decent.

It's not about looking decent. It's about being practical.
Christ you're going to get injured or killed by your own cross-guard.

No it isn't.

There's nothing practical about the design of a lightsaber, period- it like most of Star Wars runs on rule of cool.

Thought the trailer was interesting for the little it showed us. Quite curious to know what the story is behind the stranded Storm Trooper. Just hope they don't follow the "black guy dies first" trope and he gets run over in the next shot or something. As to the lightsaber, not a fan at all of the design. Just seems like a good way to lop your own hand off.

No, Jar Jar breaks yer rule of cool.
It IS a stupid saber design.

I just realized Quan is saying he will like this because Benedict is in it.

Benedict's not been confirmed to be in it, but there is that rumor going around. It will be quite surprising if he shows up given we've been given the cast list.

But it's directed by Abrams who directed the new Star Trek, which is why Quanchi is ready to be a massive fan of THE NU SW, like he is of THE NU TREK.

Star Wars EU may no longer exists but it seems Disney has picked and choosen what they liked from it.

They always said they would borrow stuff from the Old EU. So it wasn't a waste of time reading that stuff (like some people complain). Because every time they borrow something from the EU, the old EU fans will have a heads up on the background of the character/item they've borrowed.

I recently randomly came across an interview with Harrison Ford and Benedict. He was asked if he had a role in the film, and he wouldn't give a real answer, which is what lead me to think that he is actually in it. And then of course I read about all the rumors.

I think he could make a good Sith.

Oh yeah, he'd be Awesome if he's in it.

But not being announced as part of the main cast, my guess would be that if he's in it, that it's some sort of cameo role. A role which could become more prominent as the trilogy goes forward.

That's just pure speculation though. Got nothing to back it up.

Y'know how stale & predictable Depp & Burton are these days...I just hope it doesn't become like that with JJ & Benedict.

Abrams first Star Trek movie was amazing, I don't blame him.

That doesn't mean you hate on the old stuff.

The Original Star Wars trilogy was more than just Amazing. Changed cinema in fact.

I won't be at all surprised if Benedict is in this.. After all he basically said the same thing that Liam Neeson said when Neeson was asked about being in The Dark Knight Rises... Cumberbatch is a very talented and gifted actor .. He would make a damn good sith.

So if he's in it good chance it will just be a small cameo like Neeson had in TDKR. Just to set him up for further films maybe.

👆 Wouldn't mind if he's some Sith Lord behind it all

Have my doubts about this Adam Driver cat

Andy Serkis being the menacing voice in the trailer is interesting

oh its entirely possible.. we obviously won;t know for sure until the film comes out unless during another trailer disney shows him...

agreed if Cumberbatch plays a sith behind everything would be good..
(don;t tell Quan though lol)

Honestly I'm not a fan of Adam Driver but I hope after viewing him he'll be good..

Serkis doing the voiceover could just be a favor to disney, but he might have done some Mo Cap work

Serkis has a role in the movie. In fact, IIRC, he has two roles one that is mo-cap and one that is not. I'm also quite doubtful Cumberbatch is in the movie in any meaningful role.

Yeah, there's no need for that. Quan just feels like he needs to choose sides.

The best design I've seen so far...
