The Flash

My point was it's a big shame Flash didn't get picked up by a bigger network because it would have crushed all the other superhero shows in the ratings, all the "Marvel" and "DC" ones.

It already does, apart from Daredevil. Second highest rated superhero show according to IMDB.

^ I meant in terms of viewership numbers.

Ah, when you said "ratings" I understood it to mean highest-rated. No worries!

Anyway, it's only on its second season. I'm sure if they keep the show consistently good it will eventually pick up more viewers. But being a superhero show always means you are only targeting a certain audience, at least until more younger viewers join over the years. For instance, it will be hard to compete with a show like NCIS which has recorded more than 20 million viewers, as the show appeals to a much broader audience. But 3.7 million viewers for The Flash is not bad when you compare it to Arrow, for instance, with 2.6 million viewers.

^ Yeah but it's because of the network they are on. Gotham's ratings for example have gone down a lot since the first season, but is still ahead of Flash with 4 million+.

And Supergirl is getting around 8 million right now (although that's sure to drop).

Point is though Supergirl and AOS both debuted with a pilot of 12 million+ viewers. Even Gotham debuted with 8 million viewers.

So I just feel like Flash was never given that chance because of the network it's on, and that considering it's quality it could have been a really popular show on a bigger network.

Aah, okay. Have to confess I never really paid attention or bothered to see which U.S. network is broadcasting which series so I didn't realise it made such a big impact on the number of viewers. We have a fairly decent deal here via our provider (DSTV) so most shows we get to see on the same package, no matter what the original network.

Though looking at AoS and Gotham I think Flash's quality might not be as great as it is now if it were on a bigger network. It would have almost surely gotten more exposure.

You can talk about quality shows on bigger networks, but remember when Heroes first came out on NBC in 2006 it wasn't showing off vastly better quality then other shows with super heroes at the time. By "quality" I am talking about set design and special effects. Hell some of the early seasons of Smallville had better SFX then Heroes.

Well, Marvel only has 1 show on network tv.

And it's at least as good as Gotham and Arrow.

I was including past and present shows, including cartoons as well. DC just does tv better. When it comes to tv shows like this have seemed closer to the comics then anything. I don't mean "closer" as in faithful, but it just has that comic feeling as opposed to just something based off a comic. Smallville struggled with this, especially in the last season when they brought in a variety of comic characters as guest stars..it never felt like the comics. This show seems a lot better at making the characters outfits not look utterly ridiculous. Not that nothing has been without silliness, but just to compare it to Smallville again Clark eventually adopts a "suit" that makes him look like a confused Matrix fan. There is literally never a single solitary moment he looks cool in that specific suit.

Of course one thing that hasn't changed at all is the terrible puns, but this show did have a lot of humor in the first season, specifically some scenes between Joe and Eddie.

So Barry's dad just comes and goes whenever the plot demands it...seems legit. Wonder if this will become a trend.

Oh and there was a Legends of Tomorrow tease in the mix so there's that.

Spoiler:
and something about Grood going to Gorilla City and Flash possibly getting his ring or whatever that's about

It was always weird to me that his dad just decided to up and leave the MOMENT he got out of prison. You have a kid you haven't been able to spend time with in 15 years and your first decision is to go camping? Then it takes the near paralyzation of Barry for him to return.

Keep in mind he knows Barry is a superhero and it s dangerous work and thus his child could quite literally be killed any day. He JUST saw Zoom drag him all over the city, nearly killing him.

There seems to also be a running theme on the show: if Barry is struggling all it takes for him to overcome it is for someone to go "you can do it Barry!" and that is it. Just have his friends chant "you can beat Zoom Barry" and Zoom should be defeated within moments.

Still getting over how the show was able to get King Shark on screen: considering Arrow's fortune with SS members. Also whatever happened to Linda/Wells' Dr.Light cosplay.

That King Shark cameo was priceless. Totally unnecessary plot-wise, but a hilarious addition that gave them some random fan service without ruining the episode.

Is the Supergirl show supposed to be in the same universe as this and Arrow?

It's not, afaik. I don't think it's been specifically denied, but neither has anyone suggested they are. And since they're owned by different companies...

Constantine got let go by NBC, which is how he loopholed himself into the universe. But Supergirl is probably off limits atm.

I have heard some rumors that Smallville could be another world that the portals link to, however.

A Tom Welling appearance would be pretty cool.

Yes, and preferably an appearance of Clark from a time period on Smallville when he's not a complete tool. So anytime prior to season 8 is pretty much unusable.

On the other hand Arrow would probably break down into tears if he saw the type of stuff Smallville Ollie could do sans any super powers.

If they are using Smallville, or a Tom Welling appearance, why not just make live action props of Season 11 material? Unless they're still sticking to the "No tv Superman" approach.

Supergirl looks fcking terrible. this universe has enough problems of it's own w/o incorporating that piece of shit.

Well CW is kind of tied to CBS so if Supergirl turns out to be a flop it can ride its way to the Flash verse. Introducing multiverse makes it even easier.

mostly likely, after all, all three shows have the same showrunner..CBS owns half of the CW and most importantly, Supergirl isn't doing well so I will not be at all surprised if a crossover be happening

I really have no interest in anything with Supergirl.

Why do you guys want her to be part of a crossover?
