Mass Effect: Andromeda

It does.

It looks like Mass Effect but the action looks fun as well. But there is things like (like building and crafting) that should change it up. Bioware has done new things with sequels so let's hope it's for the good.

The thing I get from the trailer is that this game is a first person view of the information you get when you scanned planets in the first three games.

Do you remember when you scanned a planet and it something like, "filled with diamonds, minerals, rare earth metals and some sort of massive trench that looks like was remnants of a long ancient battle"...and stuff like that. This feels like your playing an explorer finding out stuff like this but from close up view.

Or at least I hope it is because I find that fascinating.

Nice trailer. The combat looks nice and the graphics, despite some janky and awkward animations, particularly facial animations, look good.

I was just reading an interview with Mac Walters on IGN that made me kind of sad, though. He confirmed that they probably won't do another cohesive trilogy again, with choices and characters that carry over like in the original trilogy. I think that's really unfortunate as that is one of the big unique reasons why Mass Effect is special. Without that, without the ability to carry over your main character into the next game(s), it'll essentially feel like Dragon Age in space, which I don't really want. I hope they end up making a different decision, but I think the difficulty of doing it the way it was done in the first trilogy is probably more than they think it's worth.

That's interesting.

Rightly or wrongly, I assume the reason why they are not doing that is because of backlash of Mass Effect 3.

This and its probably pretty damn difficult for your choices across multiple games to cohesively have any real game changing impact. If they did more contained stories/games, they could probably do more with the idea.

That said, I'd still rather have it carry over.

As would I. The amount of carry over especially between Mass Effect 1 and 2 was amazing in how even the smallest things could pop up. And even 3 had some nice moments too.

It would be nice to port some decisions from the trilogy over so it can be established how well humans and all the other races get along with each other based on Shepard's actions like whether or not he/she let the Council live by the end of the first Mass Effect for example. Maybe we'll get something like the Genesis to fill the blanks.

I'm so unbelievably excited after seeing the gameplay

No way are they doing that. Considering they built the story around the arks leaving the solar system between ME2 and ME3, I'm guessing they are doing going to reference anything regarding the ending of ME3.

But...this is set 600ish years in the future from the trilogy so I cannot believe they won't reference at least something regarding Shepard.

My best guess is a side mission and it will probably be damn cool.

Yeah it sounds like this, unfortunately, isn't happening. It would be nice if they did a Dragon Age Keep type thing, but ultimately I think they are seeing this game as a fresh start and want to get as far away from the trilogy as they really can. I think the backlash to the ending of ME3 really shook them up a lot more than they let on in interviews, it seems this entire game is a means to distance themselves from that.

As far as how they'll reference the original trilogy, it sounds like maybe Avina will be there, and I expect a VI in the form of someone in the OT may exist. Maybe a Liara VI or something.

March 21st, they say...

Not sure how to feel about a multi-skill tree we're gonna have to use to unlock things in this new Mass Effect. I'm more used to the class system we had in the first three games.

For the PC users Mass Effect 2 is free through Origin.

If you buy the Super Deluxe Edition of this game, you're a legit idiot. It's one thing to spend an extra $10 on the Deluxe Edition that offers minor content for the single player but paying $40 more for the Super Deluxe that all it gives you is a boost in multiplayer progress is a new level of stupid.

Why? Nothing wrong with getting the base game. It's these outlandish editions everyone should ignore. Let EA take them back, then stack and make chairs and desks out of them in their offices.

A look inside the Tempest ship (basically the new Normandy).

You can craft melee weapons in this.

Ugh. I want to play it, but a part of me is genuinely worried about it.

I'm excited, though cautiously. This is the type of trailer I've been waiting for. Showing some personality and giving some pretty significant hints about the story. Can't wait for more.
