Wow, I misread that... 😮

No, you read it perfectly.

😄

Just a thought. At the end of the third comic, Mace comes to the conclusion, that due to Dooku and Maul working together, he suspects that Dooku is the second sith; the one who originally trained Maul. In old canon, Dooku left the Order right after Qui-Gon was killed by Maul. Obviously that is no longer the case, as Mace couldn't suspect that if he left after TPM. The real question is: when did Dooku leave the Jedi Order?

^ He left the order before TPM as confirmed in the last season of TCW.

Double agents have existed in the Jedi Order before. Syo Bakarn the First Son of the Emperor even sat on the Jedi Council. Jedi Councilors have unrestricted access to holocrons (including Sith holocrons), it'd be quite possible for one of them to be corrupted (especially one as prideful as Dooku), train a secret apprentice to do his bidding while maintaining the facade of a Jedi Master until his plans to destabilize the galaxy were ready.

When was this stated?

It's not stated. But in one of the Clone Wars episodes it's revealed that Dooku was working with the Sith while Valorum was still Chancellor.

It's in the Lost Ones. Dooku (already known as Tyranus) has Sifo-Dyas prior to Palpatine becoming Chancellor.

Huh I never even thought about that. That means Palpatine broke the rule of two by training 2 apprentices.

Does that mean Sidious was always planning on replacing Maul? Or was he just gonna screw the rules?

Possibly. Strange that Plagueis wouldn't notice this considering he himself flagged Dooku as Palpatine's replacement if he ever got caught.

Wasn't he already basically ass ****ing the rules by having Maul?

It's probably meant in the same way Dooku had Ventress and Vos/Vosa.

SOD made it clear that Sidious kidnapped Maul to train him as a Sith due to his potential, but left him to die once he decided he no longer needed him. Probably due to Dooku being a better fit for his plans.

Sidious screwed Talzin over for Maul. Screwed Maul over for Dooku. Screwed Dooku over for Vader. Was ready to screw Vader over for Luke.

But his initial intention with each of them was to have them as his Sith Apprentice. He never planned on using them initially, but was willing to do so if it benefitted him.

👆 To both of the above posts.

TCW invented the idea that Sidious sought Maul as his replacement.

Nah, it's mentioned in the Essential Guide to the Force as well.

TCW only showed Lucas' s vision. The idea that Sidious Never wanted Maul to be his Sith apprentice is something that the EU made up.

Really? What page?

Can't recall. But it’s mentioned by Sidious that he never intended for Maul to be the one to lead the attack on the Jedi Temple.

In the Book of Sith Sidious seemed very dismissive of Maul. He referred to him as an animal who had his uses but could never expand beyond his limited set of tools.

As I said, TCW's idea was that Maul should have been Sidious' replacement. In pretty much every book prior to it, Sidious just used Maul as an assassin.

And like I said that was never Lucas's vision. The EU came to that strange idea on its own.
