Onscreen he has more "evil" acts than Varys.

You misunderstand a bit. No need to list things he's done because I'm not denying that he's evil. Onscreen, yes, but in general, Varys has been quite the busybody when it comes to being a dick. He's outright killed to achieve his goals and killed an infant (the "Aegon switch"😉 so this is why I merely challenge the comparison.

I don't think there's a massive difference, with the information we have. We have a somewhat reasonable explanation as to why Varys does what he does, which helps us rationalize what he does but we are completely unaware of Petyr's ambitions, which is why it's even harder to make the distinction.

Really? I mean, Petyr's goals/ambitions are less known to us than Varys'. We have a decent idea and can make "safer" assumption but Baelish is an utter enigma, in terms of what "game" he's playing.

That makes Littlefinger more interesting to me, simply because I don't know yet and speculation with/alongside anticipation can be more entertaining than knowing. In this case, for me, it definitely is.

Huh? Littlefinger's motivations are fairly obvious. He wants money and power and he loves to play the "game".

Yeah and Varys cut the tongues out of hundreds of children to form his army of informants. He's not a nice guy either. Not "onscreen" true, but he's still pretty evil.

No, no. Money was easy enough for him to attain (especially as Master of Coin) and while he excels and loves "the game," this isn't evidence of motivation. Varys said himself that "only God knows" what game Littlefinger is playing.

His motivations aren't known to anyone yet. My guess? It could be something wholly malevolent but who knows? My impressions of Varys were similar to that of Baelish's until I got wind of his intent. Even then, it's still ultimately speculative and doesn't excuse some of the more villainous actions he (Varys) has committed.

Baelish has personal desires of passion that Varys lacks, especially due to Varys' asexuality, but he is no way an obvious man.

Oh yeah. I almost forgot about that shit.

EDIT: Accidental double post.

I don’t see it. It’s pretty clear in both the show and books, what Littlefinger wants. He wants money and power and now Sansa. As he says, he wants “everything” and he intends to get it by using “chaos (as) a ladder”.

He says himself that he makes aimless maneuvers and performs actions to throw people off from the "certainty of what he wants."

Varys has confirmed this, among others. It's obvious no one is aware of his genuine goals and he does a masterful job of concealing them.

He's supposed to fool fellow characters in the realm of nonfiction, Ares. Not you.

Hardly. Can we say with 100% certainty what he wants? No, but that’s because he isn’t a POV character. Everything suggests that he is playing the “game” to get more power and because he seems to enjoy it. But continue to ignore it if you wish.

Do you guys think they will make Doran's gout look gross? They've screwed up some of the grosser elements on characters such as Tyrion: he doesn't have a nose.

I wouldn't be surprised if they pretty Doran up. They've done it with pretty much every character. Except like, Asha/Yara. Lol.

Can you cite me ever in the history of KMC calling Varys a nice guy?

You don't need to come off as better than Littlefinger to not be evil. The bar is set pretty low.

Lady Stoneheart is one of the absolute BEST things in ASOIAF...

Eh, idc.

She's probably lying. It would be rather difficult and pointless to discard such a pivotal series plot point. She's probably trying not to spoil next season.

Lady Stoneheart is a valuable character. That's unfortunate.

Lady Stoneheart is a valuable character.
Why?

She's unique, in appearance and in method of ambition. It's not just someone who takes up men to take a run at the throne. Sure, the method is tried (revenge) but it has a character in a position that wants something other than the throne and is doing it in a unique way.

We have characters that endlessly seek revenge, even from the same family as Stoneheart (Arya), but we don't have some crazy undead broad with a hole in her throat who's "falling" from grace.

Plus, I'm thinking there's going to be some pretty intense and interesting developments with the release of the next book. If she's scrapped, the show might miss out on some opportunities. I see no reason to have her absent.

Agreed with all of this.

Also, Podrick was confirmed to be alive by GRRM. So Brienne and Podrick were saved by whatever Brienne said. WTF did Brienne SAY?

See, that was one of the best moments! Why the fudge would they cut out Lady Stoneheart? It was super intense. I remember reading it and getting excited. That was pretty much the ONLY time in all of the books that I got excited while reading anything from GRRM. And they ****ing cut out Lady Stoneheart. WTF. Holy shit. Dammit.

Edit - You know what, I'll be honest. The only reason I got interested in the show was because of Lady Stoneheart being onscreen. She's practically horror.

Presumably she said "I'll kill Jaime Lannister for you."
