Game of Thrones FOR PEOPLE WHO'VE READ THE BOOKS

She says one word.

"I'llkilljaimelannisterforyou."

I'm having trouble getting behind that. Regardless, that would be an interesting twist but it doesn't fit Brienne to betray Jaime like that. I'm thinking she said something to convince Stoneheart that she isn't loyal to Lannisters (as a whole).

However, how she does that with one word? Mad skillz, yo.

"Tribadism", that's the one word Brienne states to Cat; it saves her and Pod.

Hot.

Why?

Without her, Brienne and Jaime have no real plot going forward other than aimless wandering. Also no punishment to the Frey's.

Agreed with all of this.

Also, Podrick was confirmed to be alive by GRRM. So Brienne and Podrick were saved by whatever Brienne said. WTF did Brienne SAY?

"Sword."

"Sword."

Ah shit. That means she's lending her hand to Stoneheart. I hope she recognizes that she cannot provide a proper oath to Stoneheart and betrays her (A.K.A. Not killing Jaime), which is entirely possible. She obviously wanted to save Podrick's life so I get the decision.

I think it's going to go down like that. Brienne is going to kill Stoneheart in a parallel to how Jaime killed Arys, breaking her vows to stop a corrupt monster from taking innocent life.

Presumably she said "I'll kill Jaime Lannister for you."

It was one word. But I wish it was something that actually made since, like what you suggested. I cannot think of a single word that would convince her to revive them both.

hmm]

That might actually work. I think it will not be a quick death. I think there will be enough time for Cat to calm down, upon the realization her life is going to end in a few moments, and she will ask Brienne for forgiveness...or at least express regret for some of the things she's done. It will probably end with Brienne making another vow to Cat right before she dies.

No seriously, GRRM admitted in an interview that the word Brienne says is "Sword".

I'm going to need to know why the **** that did anything.

Was it reminding Cat that she wielded the child of Ice (Ned's old sword)?

Basically, I'm saying...did that make Cat forgive Jaime because she realized that Jaime was a good guy, after all (because he gave Ned's old sword to Brienne to save Ned's and Cat's girls).

Nah, simpler than that- ZombieCat (by proxy) told Brienne she could prove herself loyal by proving her faith 'with your sword'.

i.e. kill Jaime.

The choice was- sword or noose.

Would it be possible that Brienne saying "sword" in regards to not taking the noose was her saying/picking "trial by combat''?

It's possible, yes, but that 'sword or noose' thing is verbatim from the book, with 'sword' already defined, and I don't think the Brotherhood were offering combat as an option.

Plus Gurm showed a sneak-peak at a chapter that has Brienne coming to Jaime and tricking him into going with her somewhere with a bullshit story about the Hound having Sansa. I think it's quite apparent she told Cat she'd bring Jaime there to kill him i.e. picking the "Sword" option.

That wasn';t a sneak peak chapter, that was an actual chapter in Dance with Dragons.

Yes.

This is most certainly true. Cat would be very much opposed to another "Trial by Combat" considering what happened at The Vale with Tyrion.

my crackpot theory regarding the "one word"

“I vow that you shall always have a place by my hearth and meat and mead at my table, and pledge to ask no service of you that might bring you into dishonor. I swear it by the old gods and the new. Arise.”

"Sword" is the word. Your theory is without drive.

I keep seeing people assert this as "confirmed", but no evidence other than what were are left to infer in AFFC. but you're right. it's not like GRRM ever deliberately misled and surprised us. that would be absurdly out of character for him.

I have it on good authority that the bird is the word.
