There's no skirting. Cap was the main character, but there was a clear Tony and Avengers arch interlinked with the main plot, and IM specifically had a massive presence in the film. The biggest and most exciting fight sequence in the film was a heck of a lot more than just a Captain America fight.
I don't get what's so hard to understand, that calling this just a Cap film (mainly due to the title it seems) is kind of underselling what the movie was.
I mean was BvS a duo film solely because of the title and CW a Cap film just due to the title? Are we all just pretending that IM was nothing but a small part, and the story could have been done without him?
The original X-Men films all seemed like Wolverine movies to me, and I and others called them as much. Because we're pointing out what the movie gave us, and not just what they titled it.
And May I point out that the title is also Civil War which is a Marvel Event title from the comics, a story of the Marvel heroes being split between Cap and IM.
