Yeah, not sure how I feel about that; don't really care for it, but they can def make it work with good writing. It's a shame they're seemingly dumping the Uncle Ben death-factor though, dame shame.

And the answer to your question: Because he's popular and Downey does a fantastic job as Tony Stark

I agree, but that doesn't mean he should be incorporated into Spidey's origin. It doesn't matter how popular IM is. Spidey is still one of the most well known, loved, and iconic super heroes ever written. His origin is also the most iconic.

I think from Marvel's marketing point of view, you can't have a Spiderman grieving over a death & still be wise-cracking at the same time.
We already had a dorky version.
Then an Emo version.
Hopefully this "vigilante" version will make up for the previous 2.

Story noted that Peter has already been crime fighting when CW starts, so they could work in Uncle Ben's death as having happened in the past (shown in quick flashbacks) and the reason why Peter become Spider-Man; instead of IM hero-worship.

Though I guess they could technically do both, if they were so inclined. Ben gets killed, Peter feels guilty as he indirectly caused the death due to anger/ego; he looks to his hero Stark for inspiration and becomes a vigilante hero himself. Alright, this works well; emailing the idea to Feige; he'll be thrilled. Sorry for the spoilers.

or they could wait for the spiderman movie to worry about that

They could, but spending 3-4mins in flashbacks setting up this SM's backstory would be smarter, imo, since he's appearing here first.

SM's one of the most popular heros, he doesn't need another intro story in his first solo film. They should handle his backstory like Norton handled Hulk's, quick flasbacks that didn't eat heavily into the film.

Or they just could not show Uncle Ben dying... Again.

Anyway, the IM stuff sounds cool. As a nerd himself, it would make sense that Peter idolizes Tony Stark. There is some real potential there. Anyway, I don’t see how Spider-Man idolizing IM revamps his origin. Uncle Ben’s death likely still be the catalyst that caused SM to become a hero. They just aren’t going to waste time in a Captain America film setting up Spider-man origin so we can see it for a third time. Nor should they.

Nah. Superman's is.

Well, this will be his first appearance and I think the fans won't stress about it too much as he's in a crowded film and the general public is familiar with his origins.

This film is supposedly testing very well according to screen rant. I am very much looking forward to this now. Marvel is on a tear.

Russo>>>>Snyder.

Yeah and so did Green Latern. Many films have great test screenings, it means nothing.

Still continue with the Russo hero worship. Make one good film and you are untouchable.

Wasn't Whedon the hero before AOU?

No, Avengers was mediocre as was Agents of Shield.

So Spidey is going to be playing second fiddle to IM after all. Shame but then again Disney didn't make the deal with Sony until the end of 2014 by which point Civil War was already in the works and the MCU time frame was all but established.

Not sure what this says about MCU Cap appeal seeing as people so concerned with a Spider Man appearance in a Capatain America sequel.

Everyone is playing second fiddle to IM right now. Cap is making huge strides though and is clearly number 2 now.

I never said untouchable but I think winter soldier made the man of steel look pitiful by comparison.

Can't wait to hear the DC fans openly sobbing after batman v. superman.

I won't be. It looks great.

Quan actually gave a decent answer not counting the last part of course.

You were ranting how this doesn't look good and how you don't care for Captain America; now that people are saying it's good, you jump on board. You be you 🙂
