That Grace Randolph is just bashing the critics for the failure of BVS. Not every movie goer is a critic or a Marvel fan. Coming up with excuses like Marvel paid the critics is just sad. The success or failure of a movie is entirely the responsibility of the Movie company plain and simple.
I duuno. She was bashing on DC movies last I saw her videos (A long while ago). And praising Marvel for doing it right.
And there does seem to be some level of bias from amongst the critics when it comes to this movie IMO. I mean 28%? Come on? This wasn't Green Lantern or Iron Man 3 bad. IM3 actually got great scores from critics btw.
Now one could argue that Marvel has earned itself a much better image so pre-conceived notions wil be very different when going into a meh/bad Marvel movie compared to when going into a meh/bad DC film. But it's still a pre-conceived notion and it's still bias whether it's earned or not.

Sure the plot gets a bit muddled and the villain isn't so intimidating and the mark whatever suits break apart too easily, but it's damn entertaining and I left the theater satisfied. Making the excuse that critics had pre-conceived ideas before seeing the movie to justify your own opinion is weak, maybe they just also enjoyed the movie there's an idea

Really well written article about Civil War and WHY it's so meaningful. The writer goes on to explain the character transformations of Steve and Tony through the years and how they're basically swapping beliefs/ideals.

You and John Schnepp seem to be the only people who still defend IM3 to the ground.
A lot of the critics who hated BvS also Loved Affleck as Batman. A lot of people who hated the Prequels Loved Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan. One beloved character doesn't make the whole film great and enjoyable.
Hey maybe that is all just their honest non-bias opinion. Maybe all critics are all completely non-bias and have no preferences at all or any kind of pre-conceived notions at all. If so people need to learn how out of touch they are with the general audience, and not to give their views a second thought IMO.
But I personally just find it hard to believe people actually think movies like SM3 and IM3 were >>> BvS. And can't help but shake the feeling that if the exact same film was made by Sam Ramai or Christopher Nolan or within the MCU, that it wouldn't have gotten an RT score of less than 60%.
Okay, somebody had WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much time on their hands........

If you're into the Civil War memes as I am (guilty pleasure, sue me) this link is full of them. Not all of them are great but most made me laugh.

There's a big difference though. BvS is more than Ben Affleck as Batman, Star Wars is more than Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan but Iron Man 3 IS Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark. RDJ carried the entire movie on his larger than life shoulders, his character WAS the movie if you know what I mean. At some point people weren't going to see IM3 for the plot or the villain, they paid to see vintage RDJ. As long as Tony Stark fires razor sharp quips and kicks ass, people will enjoy the movie.
Fair enough to point out the difference. But I disagree you can't also enjoy BvS due to Batman. He was the main character in that, and was part of the best action sequences.

IM3 >>>> BvS any day of the week.
Oh God no. I've tried sitting through IM3 a 2nd time. Physically can not do it. BvS is way closer in quality to AOU than to IM3 IMO.
Out curiosity is SM3 also >>>> BvS?
Originally posted by Zack MI liked IM3. It wasn't nearly as good as it could have been but it was funny and enjoyable for me. I'd watch IM3 over BvS anyday. Spider-man 3 though, yah not good.
SM 3 and IM 3 were garbage, IMO. However, I actually liked the first half of IM 3 and was surprised what was all the hate, but the last hour was awful.
Also, Critics AND Audience ratings for IM3 are much better than BvS.

That's cool. I thought the comedy aspect killed the movie. I just felt awkward in some scenes. The same could be said with the Thor movies. If they were to kill those lines or better scripted it, the movie could have been a lot better, IMO.
