Speaking of WW2 there is a great mini series that recently aired on History channel called "the last days of the nazi's". If people don't know, after the war we occupied Germany for a bit and interviewed hundreds of thousands of nazi's..trying to figure out how the hell this all happened and how they turned into..what they turned into.

So this series basically airs some of the interviews(interspersed with actors filling in to read some of the dialogue) and it gives a lot of incite into the nazi's and how the hell they got so crazy. If you have Comcast you can find it on demand right now for free, all 3 episodes, each 120 mins long.

Were they Nazis or just German citizens? I don't imagine you'd get very revealing interviews from hardline party members, even after the war's end.

They interviewed German citizens too, but in the documentary it focuses on the interviews of nazi's. There are some with non-soldiers, like the woman who was the leader of the female version of the Hitler Youth.

Also some of the nazi's were revealing, but they'd also try to pit most of the crimes on other people. "I was just following orders" was a popular saying. Or they plead ignorance, like there is a lot with Albert Speer, who said he was mostly ignorant to the more heinous stuff. It also featured the only guy who got off as not guilty in the auschwitz trials.

It does show ways the US government tried to show the normal citizens of Germany the horrors the Third Reich committed. They would put posters up in cities with graphic images of concentration camps, holocaust victims, dead bodies piled by the hundreds, etc. with the headline "Whose Fault?". Of course some of the citizens wanted pity because the US had came and bombed German civilians.

I think Obama is hesitating to bombard Ramadi with airstrikes 'cause of the innocent citizens residing inside the city.

Do you view that as good or bad?

Most of the innocents have already fled the city.
There are only a few hundreds left. Probably less.

Sacrifices have to be made, for the greater good.

This.

Ramadi was basically abandoned because ISIS was killing anyone who didn't join them.

What people forget it ISIS is killing their own innocent people for zero cause. They are just going in homes and cutting heads off and filling people with bullets.

Sounds retarded 👆

Obviously the top level guys are going to deny any guilt.

People like Speer and the female leader of the hitler jugend are hardly civillians though.

"I was just following orders" is the excuse used by just about any soldier who commits murder in the name of some cause (actually money). I actually have more respect for the friends I have who admit that they're not bringing democracy to the middle east or some ridiculous nonsense like that, but rather that they're doing their job, whic happens to involve killing.

Btw: If you think race theory was a foreign concept in America, the rest of Europe or in Asia during WW2 times then I suggest boning up on your history 👆

Race theory is pretty accurate. Given the time I've spend with people of other races (sexual and non-sexual relationships) I've come to the conclusion that each specific race, or rather to be more accurate the demographic of a specific country, has its own set of attitudes (yep, attitude not culture/tradition/norm.)

I disagree but race theory was certainly dominant among populace back then, regardless of country 👆

Actually not all of them denied it. Some were pretty blunt. There was one guy they said they couldn't talk to for more then a few minutes before he brought up his hatred of jews..no matter WHAT subject you were talking about he'd turn it into a jew discussion.

My favorite was the crazy nazi doctor who was going on about how the German people were around 300,000 years ago and at that time they shared the Earth with fairies and trolls and other mythical creatures.

I'm perplexed at what I said that gave any indication of my views on race theory and what countries have the concept?

Germans and Japanese from WW2 era were no different to today's Muslim extremists.

ISIS and other Islamic terrorist groups are this generation's Nazis.

I think I even saw on some special that certain elder members of ISIS and even Al Queda were heavily influenced by Hitler and the Nazi party.

Dear lord did people think millions of Americans died? Guess what? No war in the history of our country has killed even 1 million Americans. The most costly war in terms of lives was the Civil War, and even that didn't reach 1 million.

Be Sure to tell that to any native Americans you meet.

That wasn't a singular war.

American's killed the Indians, German's killed the Jews and all of Europe. Hopefully we all learn from our mistakes.

They can't, the lost there whole army, and have a huge allied base.

Anyways this is pretty interesting. Appears we didn't massacre the Indians as previously taught.

Not entirely true. Germany has a fairly strong military, it's just their political culture is such that even the use of the military for the collective defense of Europe can be a controversial subject.
