I'm not sure where banning comes in, all I have done was appeal to people themselves, to voluntarily filter what they say, based on an understanding of the consequences of their actions.

This whole post feels like it has gone off the deep end. You've done nothing but throw insults around in it. It seems like you have some sort of insecurity about me disagreeing with your view, which is just bizarre. I believe what I say to be true, and until I am convinced otherwise, I will phrase it in that manner (coincidentally just like you do)

And almost everyone filters what they say on here (and generally) already, all I'm suggesting is that some people adjust their filter to include racist and sexist jokes at the expense of oppressed groups in their filtering.

But I kept it in a thread about jokes.

Maybe you should go back to page 1 of this thread & count all the racist & sexist jokes that have been written. If any oppressed groups have been offended then why hasn't this thread been locked yet?

I'm Asian & not once has any racist joke here offended me so please don't feel that you need to speak on behalf of my "oppressed" minority.

I'm glad for you, but there are a lot of Asians who do feel that racist jokes at their race's expense are a problem.

"dark humour" premesis
and targeted abuse/ racism/ harrassment

Oh yes, I don't think anyone is targeting anyone for abuse here. I do not think this is actively malicious, that's why all I'm doing is appealing to people changing their own behaviour voluntarily.

A racist joke, while it will usually get a cheap laugh and is easy to make, has consequences that aren't harmless, and people either ignorantly or actively accept that the laugh they get is worth the harm it causes, all I want is for people to reconsider and hopefully decide that it is not worth it, and that there are better jokes to make, that will also get laughs, but actually have positive consequences.

whilst i DO believe in what you are saying on a fundimental level and quite possibly an interpersonal level as well i believe that most of these jokes are attempt at humour or dark humor, intended racial slandering of a culture in the form of a joke isnt all that acceptable yes but keep in mind their is also the equality given in these jokes

take Riv for example, most people make black jokes. i have made some positive black jokes here and there. riv has recently brought to the thread white jokes

whilst i can understand your views on the jokes and attempts of humor within this thread please keep in mind it can also be an multi/ all cultural joke participating thread, so not just subjective rascism

I don't believe that two wrongs make a right, and I don't believe that all we need to fix the prevalence of racial jokes against minority or marginalised groups is more jokes at the expense of majority or dominant groups.

Additionally, like I said, a joke at the expense of a white person is not the same as a joke at the expense of a black person.

Because the context within reality is different. White people do not experience any obstacles due to their race, black people on the other hand do. So a joke poking fun at race is meaningless to a white person who doesn't, but to a black person (not all black people and not in all circumstances) it may be extremely hurtful.
