That doesn't mean marketing was more expensive than usual. If anything, marketing has gone down, because of social media. Green lantern cost 200 million alone. No way SS is that expensive. I don't believe 700 to break even. Now if there is an official number, then I'll concede, but I'm not going to believe speculation.
Alrite.
Perhaps people are flocking to it cause they loved the trailers.
This is far from the end of DCEU. Suicide Squad could surprise everyone. The trailers got more views than BvS after all . Ayer's track record is pretty good for movies he's written and directed. Not the end of the world at all. Sure the drop for BvS sucks but what can we do? If SS and WW are met well financially and critically then things will be looking good for JL.
😂
DCEU dies.
If Suicide Squad is as bad as some say, I think it's the final nail in the coffin of this experiment WB has been doing. Instead of taking their time, limiting themselves to one, maybe two characters a movie and building things up, they've rushed things and on top of that have used the wrong people for the job.
They can still salvage things, imo, but it'll take some doing.

This should have happened after BvS. Honestly, I'm baffled they dove into the JL with no delays and the same team after the terrible reception and subpar BO performance of BvS. Hopefully, this film will serve up as a wake-up call.
It's strange how polarising this movie can be. Even people that liked BvS in parts (myself included) for the most part recognised the glaring issues the film had, and that in general it wasn't very good.
I've seen people say this movie is terrible, amazing, all right, decent, underwhelming, and all things in between.
I'll be seeing it myself during the week, but I wasn't expecting such a strange response to it.

I've been saying since Day1 that they shouldnt jump into Justice League. But the counter argument was just "ohh but then it will look like we're copying Marvel" and "Marvels way isn't the only way"
It's like you did it first in the comics you twits so what are you worried about. Marvels simply done it the Right Way. Nothing wrong in imitating the right methodology.
Happens all the time and works.

iirc I was right there with you. It's a shame too, considering what we've gotten so far.
Just saw this guys.
My honest accessment is it's an entertaining movie with a fantastic beginning (for a DC flick)....but is extremely disappointing and frustrating the second half.
Sucks because this one could have been really good....but awful editing, bad plot line, poor villain and and fights kill it.
Total waste of some fantastic performances by Harley, Deadshot , Waller, and Diablo, and Boomerang.....too bad.

Now that Geoff Johns has joined the crew, I need to say... can't wait for the Aquaman Trilogy.Aquaman 1: King Arthur.
Aquaman 2: Throne of Atlantis.
Aquaman 3: Deep in the Sea.
Like LotR underwater, really.
You jest, but if they gave Johns full control of Aquaman, even you would re-evaluate your treatment of the character.

2ND UPDATE, Friday, 12:18PM: Refresh for updates We already know that Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad is going to rank as the highest August opening ever at the domestic box office, but with a current 3-day projection of $140M-$155M, it’s bound to be the third best so far this year behind Captain America: Civil War ($179.1M) and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice ($166M), and the second best this summer, behind Civil War. Today, Suicide Squad is looking to ring up $65M, including last night’s $20.5M previews.

I'm seeing this tonight. I've heard that it's a great popcorn superhero flick. Not the best ever made, but very enjoyable.
It is. If you love the Characters in this - they are well presented with some great interactions.
In fact this one is has a fantastic first act. Just don't expect good editing, or a satisfying ending (among some other problems).
Still better than either Man of Steel or BvS IMO.

Yeah, the whole cast did a GREAT job. Only one I was disappointing in was Jared Leto. The movie could have done without him, TBH.
I didn't have any problems with Leto's performance, it was the writing and plot for Joker that was non-existent. No depth to work with.
I'm also hearing that a lot of his performance was left on the cutting room floor.
Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Viola Davis killed it.... very good acting.
