Is Leto's Joker on par? Comparable with Ledger or Nicholson?

I'd say the capability is certainly there but there wasn't enough Joker scenes in this cut to know for sure.

Still waiting on a solid plot and strong pacing for these DC flicks though. Not sure if execs are screwing these up or what, but this is the best DC flick I've seen yet... but that's not saying much compared to what they've given so far.

For some reason this film loses all steam and tension at the halfway point and I think the huge plot and pacing problems are the major reasons.

I didn't have any problems with Leto's performance, it was the writing and plot for Joker that was non-existent. No depth to work with.

I'm also hearing that a lot of his performance was left on the cutting room floor.

That is true. I should have been more clear. Jared did an OK job and under the right pen (Say Ben Affleck), I think he could really shine as the Joker.

Jared said he wants to be in Ben's Batman movie.

Jared Leto wants to keep playing The Joker so he can battle Ben Affleck's Batman

H...E....L....L.... N...O...

This is not a good film and that is putting it midly... tonal issues. editing issues... Margot Robie is smoking hot but as an actress, she needs better acting lessons, same with Cara D.... the script sucked. the humor was clearly forced.. Will Smith was well Wil Smith. Scott Eastwood was a waste, as was most of the cast.. also the villain sucked badly

4.5/10

lol ouch! 😆

I thought the first act was awesome though...(the villain did overact badly and acted moronic with their powers.)

Russia scored the industry’s biggest opening day of all time with $3.9M on 2,482 screens, and a massive 93% share of the Top 5 films. Australia kicked off with $2.4M on 516 screens, commanding 74% of the Top 5. The opening figure includes $350K in midnight shows which rank as the 2nd biggest of all-time for a superhero title. According to Warner Bros, the start was 205% bigger than Guardians Of The Galaxy and 18% bigger than Deadpool.

In Brazil, with 85% of the Top 5, the launch was $3M, including sneaks, on 1,405 screens. That makes Suicide Squad the biggest opening day ever in August, the biggest Will Smith opening day and the 3rd highest opening day for WB. Regarding comps, WB says the Brazil bow is 171% bigger than GOTG and 14% higher than Deadpool.

Holland also opened on Thursday, with the biggest opening day of all time for a superhero movie, the biggest opening day of 2016 and the biggest August opening ever with $517K on 158 screens.

Eastern Europe and the Middle East delivered a collective $5.7M.

In second-day holds, Korea maintained the No. 1 position with another $1.8M for a total $4.7M. France has now cumed $4.2M. There is one clarification to be made regarding the comp averages on France’s opening day below. Factoring in previews for both GOTG and Suicide Squad, the latter actually came out 33% above the former, rather than 80%.

Warner Bros.' Suicide Squad is making a killing at the Friday box office, where it looks to earn at least $60 million for the day on its way to an August-best domestic debut of $140 million or more, according to early returns.

Where are all those guys who said it wouldn't have good numbers?

I suppose I should raise my hand.

But let's see where we're at Sunday.

No. Not even close.

Admittedly, he's barely in the film but from the little we see he's Joker in name only and barely comes off as insane. Apparently, most of Leto's scenes were cut because they weren't testing well as he came across as too abusive or some shit. Really disappointing.

You're not that bad. Bruce thought it wouldn't get the record. 😂

WhiteWitchKing thought it would only get 80. 😂

I genuinely thought he did as could be expected coming off the shoulders off Ledger Joker and Nicholson in the Burton films. He was more of a gangster/prep mater than an Agent of Chaos or throwback to the 60s West stuff. From what I saw he had excellent chemistry with Margot and they were one of the highlights of the movie.

the better question is What will this do next week since mixed reviews and bad woord of mouth will start.. Of course since this isn;t opening in China, this film could very well struggle

I'm not sure about the bad word of mouth but the mixed reviews may hurt it.

The 4 people I went with all like it and said they'd watch it again. But it's all subjective.

Far too abusive? The Joker? Wut?

Film should have been R-rated

I was wondering what the Jokers role would be in the movie and after watching it makes perfect sense.

Harley, Boomerang, Diablo, and Deadshot were all really good.

I actually thought Croc was good also.

I enjoyed the movie, much better than BvS.

Maybe but if the movie kept the same plot and dumb villain then I'm not sure it would make much of a difference.

It was a fun movie. Stupid plot, way too powerful villain for these clowns to fight, but it didn't take itself too seriously anyway so it's fine.

Best scenes were the Harley/Joker stuff and the Batman cameo. Wana see more of that film! Bring on the Batfleck movie.
