A lame duck is after the next election for the position is held and there's a president elect. He won't be a lame duck for some time.
Also, the average approval rating for a president in their 25th quarter like this is... 46%.
GWB's at this point was 34. Reagan's was 45.
It's almost the definition of average!
Also, it's up and down, he's gotten as high as 50% in recent weeks. Right now he's 45.
Obama has boring-as-heck approval ratings.
