Yeah, and think about converting 900 plus into today's cash. That's a LOT. In fact, Spider-Man 2 is SECOND place right behind The Dark Knight in ticket sales. Now add Iron Man and you have the number one movie in HISTORY. Other than Gone With The Wind, of course.

SM1 I think was the biggest when adjusting for inflation, 3D and the massively smaller international market at the time.

IF this can recreate the hype and excitement of that first Sam Ramai Spider-Man, then yeah it could do Avengers money. But that's a Big IF.

It has the potential to. THINK about it. It's the first time Spider-Man and IM in the same movie. 2 of MARVEL's BIGGEST and most recognizable heroes. Technically it's the second, but this is a reboot of SM, with no baggage.
I actually agree. Spidey has HUGE pulling potential. The dude has some of the highest grossing solo films to date and to this day makes more than all the avengers combined in merchandising. Plus, he's been Marvels poster boy for decades. They tried to replace him with Iron Man during the secret wars but that didn't take and they reverted right back. That combined with all the people who grew up with him in the 1900s during the rise of his popularity and those of us who grew up with him during the 90s with TASM and the 2000s with the movies that made super hero films a big deal means he is recognizable as hell and has fans all over the world. The only person who even competes with him on that front these days is Batman who got ridiculous big because of TDK bandwagoners (which I don't mean in a bad way, Bats is great). Even he only makes a third as much as Spidey in merchandising. In fact, you could combine all the merchandise regarding Avengers, Batman, and Superman, and they still don't make as much as Spidey. He pulls in money.

I'm talking number of tickets sold. According to BOTheory it goes something like this:

1. TDK
2. SM 2
3. Avengers

SM and SM 2 didn't have 3-d or any of those types of gimmicks. Homecoming does. This will blow right past Avatar.

THIS is what I have been trying to tell people! SM is the most popular hero in the world! Nobody comes close, other than Batman.

More than Avatar?

2.7 Billion world wide. It will outgross most marvel movies COMBINED. You saw it here first.

CA: Civil War which had Spider-man, Ironman and a shit ton of other heroes made about 1.1bil, but you think SM:Homecoming is making about 2.5 times that? You whacked.

You're not accounting for superhero fatigue. SM:Homecoming will probably hover around 850-900mil. If it's a particularly good film and WOM gets it there, I can see it doing 1.2bil tops, imho. But I'd bet on just under a billion.

Who cares about that turd of a movie. I'm talking about 1 and 2.

You talking about "super hero fatigue" over the course of the summer due to multiple releases of Spider-Man/Wonder Woman??, or just the phenomenon of it in general?

SM was hardly featured in that. This is all Spidey, baby.

Homecoming is more about Downey and Keaton than about Spider-Man, to be brutally honest.

Fat Ned Leeds, a black MJ and Holland cannot carry the movie.

MJ's black now as well? Or do you mean Liz Allen?

Ah, I just noticed Zendaya is not playing MJ, but some Michelle (?) character.

Still, making Liz black is just as bad. Wtf.

Why can't races stay the same as they were in the comics? It's too much to ask these days? Smdh.

In general, but a heavy year of stacked SH flicks will also factor in.

CW was far superior to AoU and should have brought in more dollars, considering the hero rosters were close. Yet it didn't.

Okay. Not sure how you get 2.7billion because of SM though. Like where is the logic you're using?

edit: It seems like you're thinking SM can bring in a billion and IM can bring in a billion, so together they'll bring in 2.7 billion. Facts show us it doesn't really work that way. Correct me if I'm wrong and you have some logical formula for your 2.7bil.

Yeah this sounds like the right sort of range and potential.

You can't just ignore the TASM films. They account for almost half the Spidey films to date.

Stilt hates black people

It's because most characters are white so they've changed certain characters ethnic backgrounds

Not really, no.

So they should stay that way.

Or you want to tell me that black Heimdall makes sense? 🙂

Or black Shocker a.k.a. Herman Schultz...?

Gologo is using these imaginary inflated numbers, him and the boxofficetheory nerds pull out their asses so they can say Spiderman HC was a failure when it ends up making 700-900 million at the box office.

These are questions you should be emailing to the MCU, in no way am I in control of casting

Will say I love Idris Elba though so him as Heimdall is cool
