Lol "Kirk died onscreen" er and Kirks dad was in a ship that f*cking exploded on screen. We won't ever see him again then, correct?
Lol
That's exactly what's going through Shatners head right now.
Besides Kirk died in the Prime Timeline. We could easily see Kelvin Timeline Old Kirk. There I've worked out in a few secnds what Abrans couldn't over multiple conversations.

Could possibly be the best film of the summer.
He won't even accept my battlezone challenge which shows he has no balls and is just a troll.

what do you think of ST: Generations?Personally, I liked both Generations and First Contact..
I don't want Shatner either lol 😛
I think it's an okay movie in general, though Kirk's death and some weird plot holes bring it down.
It's better than Insurrection to be sure.

Spock was the only one from the prime timeline granted permission into the Kelvin timeline.
Why does this matter since one of the reasons they are talking about is that Kirk died on screen. You also act like the ghost of Gene Roddenberry handed down some rules, but they could easily grant any character "permission" to show up. With literally an infinite number of explanations they could give for how it happens.
Also to be honest I don't really care if anyone from the original series shows up in these movies. They all look either bloated or like walking corpses. I'm just saying the logic they put forth makes no sense.
He's always been greater than James Kirk.
If by "greater" you mean physically superior and smarter then yes I suppose so.

For me it was less the fact he died and more the manner in which he died.
That's what I meant by it. I don't mind that he died; I just thought it was badly done.
I really liked the opening sequence on the Enterprise B. Even that would have been a fine way to leave it, imo.

And Kirk still beat him at chess.
Originally posted by SurturHe isn't worthy. He's too old, isn't necessary, and is way to fan service-y. New Kirk is superior to old Kirk.

I agree...

I've always felt Kirk should've had a warrior type death

A heroes death doesn't mean he can't die alone. His "death" on the Enterprise B was a pretty legit heroes lonely death. It just makes ST5 even worse when Kirk is just talking nonsense like that IMO.
ST5 should be forgotten in general imo, though I am curious as to what part in particular you're talking about.
I don't consider Generations to be a lonely death. He saved an entire ship and passed the torch on to the next Captain of the Enterprise. In fact, to me it counteracts Kirk's fears even going back to TMP and WoK. His constant fear of getting old, of not being the man he once was. He died as James Kirk, not some shell of his former self. That says a lot imo.

He says to Spock and Bones after doing the crazy mountain climbing and falling off that "I knew I wouldn't die, because you 2 were here. When I die, I'll die alone, I've just always known." (paraphrasing)
Then at the end when he gets off the planet where he was being attacked Kirk says "I thought I was going to die," and Spock says "Impossible Captain. You were never alone."
It wouldn't bother me if they didn't make such a big thing out of it!
I just mean that even though he was on the E-B, he was by himself when he got taken in by the Nexus. Except he never actually died then, so...

Oh that. I think that just feeds more in to Kirk's fear of becoming old and redundant.
True, but to everyone else, he died a hero, saving everyone on the Enterprise B, and those Excelsior class ships hold a LOT of people.
I wasn't a fan of the whole Nexus thing, tbh.
