It will become a bigger earner when they concentrate on making it a better Trek, like Robtard said.

Like Deadpool wasn't trying to make a Billion. It was a passion project, and turned out grossing what Trek has been trying to with a third of the budget.. Irony

don't tell that to golgo lol

This movie was really good and that is what matters the most. Star Trek will never make Star Wars money but the franchise is consistent.

agreed

It's projected 60mill OW. Less than the first of the trilogy in 2009.

Quanchi's crying. He was desperate for any NuTrek movie to make at least as much as one of the Star Wars prequels 😂

Star Wars will always dominate it in the box office. The reason Trek has been behind is because Trek the old Trek way sucks. That's the whole point of Abrams making it better with the Star Wars approach with Trek characters. Don't you ever pay attention ?

So they destroy the Enterprise....AGAIN!? Wow. I fail to understand why these people feel such personal attractions to this "ship" when they literally get a new one ever few years.

Yup. DP's mega success was largely in part to the makers staying relatively true to the source. Future Star Trek films should follow that mentality.

People wanting ST to be more like or just like SW are fools, imo. If you want SW, go watch any of the SW films or shows.

I guess you admitted you didn't like Star Trek and Into Darkness since that's the difference in which those films were made. Into Darkness and the first are by far the best Trek films. Your opinion like your height is very limited and weeniesque.

Well we better get him a box of tissues because that shit isn't happening.

Even with the higher ticket prices of today the NU Trek isn't touching the prequels.

Who said this was better than Rots ?

Who predicted it would make Star Wars money ?

Pretty much. It's like when gaming companies tried to make their games more like COD to take in more money, and failed miserably.

Trek is at its strongest when it's Trek the way Roddenberry intended (at least partially).

Making it more like Star Wars does a disservice to both wars and trek.

I'm gonna assume that's sarcasm.

Ironic that Trek fans criticize the changes when their franchise was never even remotely comparable to Wars. Any company wants to maximize profits so why give a small fanbase what they want when it will never be a massive hit on that fanbase alone. Trek became relevant again when they bridged new fans like myself in because the first two films were so obviously superior and exciting.

Those who don't like Abrams Trek I cannot fathom how you people favor other films in the franchise to these two.

The reboot was enjoyable I thought and JJ captured some essense of Trek while putting his own spin on it, the sequel was lesser but not a terrible film. This last one though, litttle more than an action flick with a mediocre plot and villain with Trek names attached to it.

Edit: Post your thoughts when you see it, curious what you think of it as another lifelong ST watcher.

I disagree Rob. I thought it was the best film of the three. The franchise is in good hands..

Robtard admits he didn't really enjoy or have a high opinion of Into Darkness. The Kelvin timeline isn't for everyone. Kindly see yourself back to your prime timeline.

You are nuts if you think this film holds a candle to Into Darkness or the first Trek reboot film.

No problem; glad you enjoyed it and got your money's worth out of it. Trilogy ended on a low-note for me.

Trilogy? Were they not planning on making anymore with this cast & crew?

Scuttlebutt is that the cast and JJ wont do another without Yelchin out of respect.
