Quanchi's arguing with himself now? 😕
That was myresponse to playa who won't address it. He favored Beyond over Into Darkness and the reboot.

My opinion Quan.

What was better than let's say Into Darkness Iyo. Action, villain, dialogue, cgi, atmospheres, film climax ?

?

The ship is ugly as sin. I know it's based on the old Ralph McQuarrie concepts, but ugh.
Looked like an older version of Voyager to me.

Better script, better character interaction, better effects and more emotion.

Disagree, disagree, disagree and disagree.

The look, the feel, the plot, the villain, the action, the stakes and the tone of Into Darkness blew Beyond off the ****ing map.

Agree to disagree.

The reboot was enjoyable I thought and JJ captured some essense of Trek while putting his own spin on it, the sequel was lesser but not a terrible film. This last one though, litttle more than an action flick with a mediocre plot and villain with Trek names attached to it.

Edit: Post your thoughts when you see it, curious what you think of it as another lifelong ST watcher.

I'll be seeing it on Wednesday, so I'll see how it goes.

I enjoyed the first one to a reasonable extent. Plot was kind of weak, but there was enough in the movie to be enjoyable.

Into Darkness? Not as much, with a wholly unnecessary villain when Marcus could have been a fine villain by himself.

Agreed that Abrams gave Trek films a much needed change in the way they were made (A new direction/portrayal of the classic characters we knew). But that didn't mean to keep making it more and more of an action flick after that. It needed to be more and more Trek with the new direction Abrams had given it IMO.

Scuttlebutt is that the cast and JJ wont do another without Yelchin out of respect.

Didn't Abrams/Paramount already confirm there will be a 4th which will bring Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth together?

D. thor your opinion much like your intelligence is very low and never welcome. Yes, they did confirm a fourth and the answers lie not in the small mind of our vertically challenged friend over here but on the Internet. If the movie performs under expectations this could change in a heartbeat.

They did, the rumors are that it won't be happening as planned (cast etc) since the death. But that could have just been an emotional response given in the moment.

There's also rumors that Chekov won't be replaced if the 4th is a go, the character will be written off in some manner.

Even ignoring the death I'm not even sure why they'd be giving out plot points about the 4th movie before the 3rd one is even out. Why? Let people digest this latest film first.

Well Star Wars already laid out the basic premise of Rogue One well in advance. Trek is in the news prior to Beyond so why not announce it. It is a great idea on paper to bring George Kirk back.

Star Wars made two billion dollars at the box office.

No one is saying Trek will ever be half as successful as Star Wars but the point is laying out your plans ahead of time to try to be more successful is a good thing.

What I'm saying is of course they were laying out all those plans they were experiencing massive success and thus wanted fans to know what more they would be getting. Let this movie at least make it's budget back before they begin spoiling the next movie.
