Originally posted by SurturI agree plus those comics aren't canon. I've researched this and it isn't really considered canon. Cumberbatch knocked it out of the park. His line delivery, his screen presence, charisma, and his action sequences are second to none. The original though beloved by the Trekkies never did it for me. It seems like Kelvin fans such as myself who never cared for the old Trek love the new approach but the older fans who grew up loving the series never enjoyed these new films the same way and always find a way to ***** about them.
Race was never an integral part of the character. You're acting like they cast a white man to play Kunta Kinte or something.
There are two separate timelines. It's fine. You had your fair share of films and shows. Hell, the new one is set in the prime timeline so you'll get what you wanted. I love the new Kelvin timeline and the actors apparently do as well. You can have your prime timeline while I'll continue to champion the Kelvin one.

The thing that amuses me now is that Enterprise is technically canon to the Kelvin timeline, as the point of divergence was after it ended.Unless there's some reason why that would be changed too.
What changed?
I doubt they're bothered about any of the Prime timeline continuity, but I guess an explanation for any changes could be that Enterprise was directly effected from time travellers from the Prime Timeline's future.
Confusing territory but still makes more sense than Khan changing race!

I thought I read something in passing about Simon Pegg saying that even things that happened before were different too. I don't recall how.
If they aren't changed though, it means that Krall was on
Spoiler:.
Enterprise during season 3 of that show, and possibly onwards
lol, i'm not a fan of changing the race of a character like that, but with Khan I genuinely didn't mind. I just wish they'd written him better so that Cumberbatch had more to work with instead of being a villain in a crowded movie.

HA I know, Just bugged me that it makes no sense how a change in the timeline would do that. The timeline changed when Khan was in hibernation after all.
Especially with Abrams mirror scenes to Wrath of Khan in the film, and references in his first one, you should be able to watch both and believe it's the same people. Doesn't work with Khan.

Oh, I agree on that count. Definitely.
Also, when he actually says his name for the first time, that was the worst line of dialogue in the entire film. Way to ham it up, Cumberbatch. He's not a snake.
