Star Trek Beyond

Quan, I'm too lazy to find your thoughts of the film in this thread, but assuming you saw it, what did you think?

I'm considering seeing it soon.

HA I know, Just bugged me that it makes no sense how a change in the timeline would do that. The timeline changed when Khan was in hibernation after all.

Especially with Abrams mirror scenes to Wrath of Khan in the film, and references in his first one, you should be able to watch both and believe it's the same people. Doesn't work with Khan.

The Kelvin isn't for everyone. You also can't stand the new Star Wars. Live in the past while I flourish in the present and can't wait for the future, Vader boy.

Ps. You also backed down to my battlezone thus proving you're a troll and afraid of me in a judged debate.

Looks like the point flew over your head

The point didn't fly over my head, you are just taking things too seriously. You say the timeline change turned a mexican into a white man, but it didn't lol. That's not what happened at all. It's never said his race was altered. They have a different actor who is a different race, that is why it is different, not because time and space friggin warped to turn a brown guy white.

In the Nu Trek, Khan was ALWAYS white. The changes to the timeline just made him get found sooner. Nobody ever says the timeline changes caused a racial switch.

^ So let's get this straight.. They changed the actor from a coloured man with an accent to a white man speaking the Queen's English, but that's too minor a change to bring up?

What about if he turned into a black man? Would that be a minor thing to ignore as well. What about a Chinese man? What about a Woman?

Like I already mentioned, ALL the other characters have different actors playing them, but are clearly recognisable as the characters they played. Not the case with Khan. If they wanted to completely ignore the Prime timeline and just completely reboot, then I'd agree, that would be a minor change. But that's not how they went about it. This is supposed to be the younger versions of the Same characters, just with history playing out differently.

The Khan change is laughable, but at the same time the most Bizzare change they made which doesn't follow the rules they've set out for themselves.

JJ should have listened to me and cast Javier Bardem, he would have made an impeccacble Khan. Charming, but ruthless when the need arises.

Damn; he would have been excellent.

I always thought Eric Bana as Nero was a pretty good performance.

He obviously hates Benedict. He just harps on these films and complains all the time.

How ****ing dare you question Benedict. There's no better Khan out there.

If you go in with lowered expectations it's a fun film. It's still the weakest of the trilogy IMO. The new bee ships are pretty damn cool and even though Krall isn't a great villain IMO he will serve his purpose for my battlezone when I invade the galactic empire's anus.

See it. It needs the box office help.

He was pretty decent, yeah.

Eric Bana wasn't close to Benedict Cumberbatch's performance. No one in the Trek universe comes close to that performance.

Patrick Stewart as Picard.

Benedict shits all over Patrick. It isn't even close.

Lol

English white guy with a Mongolian surname.

I guess a spray tan would've blown the budget.

Just because trolls and naysayers like yourselves had a problem with BeneKhan that doesn't mean others did. Enjoy the prime timeline I'm good with the Kelvin one.

Shit, if you really wanted to get in to it, you could easily say that two or three from TOS, TNG and DS9 were much better.

Benedict as Khan is one of those cases where it's a superb actor, that just didn't fit the roll perfectly.

eg I don't think anyone would argue that Urban is a better actor than Cumberbatch(he isn't, imo), but Urban's absolutely spot on perfect as 'Bones', the role fits him like a tailored suit.

Do wonder what film politics played into Cumberbatch getting the role, like was he really the best during the auditions, or was there someone else who did the role more justice, but due to Cumberbatch's popularity they cast him to help bring people to the theater.

Agreed. I don't know what they were thinking.
