Im not so sure. It seems that Black is only destroying the human race/earth. Not all mortals in the universe. If you use Future Trunk's timeline as any indication.

Then why not just destroy the planet?

Make them suffer? and he wants to kill Trunks as well

Looks like he is playing to me. Does he look serious to you? Kind of like when he fought the group of humans that planned an ambush on him. Instead of blasting them to death, he casually walk through their attacks. I think you are looking to far into this. Why didn't Galactus just blow up New York city when the Avengers and Fantastic Four stopped him from absorbing Earth?

That's not a good example. Galactus wants to "eat" Earth, and to do that he has to use his ship to absorb all of it's energy. Just blowing it up would be counter-productive.

Anyone else like how Trunks used USSJ for a moment to catch Vegeta off guard in their train-sparring? lol Hopefully Trunks does surpass limits again, as who else is gonna protect his timeline in the future? Can't afford to go the Gohan route.

To catch Vegeta off guard. He goes USSJ and Vegta charges at him thinking he will be slow but Trunks reverts back to SSJ2 and pulls off a quick attack.
