Dragon Ball Discussion Thread

I'm not liking the way the fights are going. They are using more plot driven fights than outright battles like in Z. I'm tired of seeing poisons, kai heat weakening people, someone being hit and the attacks going into another dimension... I want to see a power battle. The plot based battles are getting old.

Looks like we have a troll here people.. If you don't like it, don't watch. Stop trolling real fans and let us enjoy it in peace.

😂 😂

I absolutely love these fights. Battles based on something other than power in Dragon Ball (especially Super) is a rarity. Enjoy the intellect of these fighters as well as their power, people. It's what's gonna keep people like Piccolo and Krillin relevant in this tournament.

I feel like the U9 contenders that we've seen so far aren't really used to being tested where they come from where as in U7 we're a bit more used to the back and forth instead of one sided slaughters. Like I feel as if U9 would be a fairly lawless place where you don't fight to spar but to eat, if you want something, you take it. These guys seem like the types that don't leave their opponents alive so later on they can fight them and get stronger (think Ultraman compared to Superman), I feel like they ate their way up the pecking order and are fairly unmatched in their universe, sort of similar to the Frieza scenario. Again this all just my head canon and speculation at this point but going by how the Supreme Kai is and how backward and timid their GoD seems to be with making choices, it's probably not too far fetched to assume their Universe is a shit hole lol.

I do wonder though if that's the case if the Trio of Dangers are actually more used to just jumping the opponent together than doing it 1v1, so in team fights is where they really shine. Would be cool if that's the case so we can see them put in some work later of if group battles turn out to be a thing!

To be fair the tourney hasn't even started, we're dealing with other Universes at this point, and we're already seeing they don't all operate the way we're used to (even down to basics such as sensing ki), I'm glad to see they're bringing different toolsets to the table. Just hang in there I'm sure Toppo will go more of the way of the classic fights (He even takes notice in Gohan changing his power level) but let's not rush towards it, we're at the start of a whole new arc and things are looking promising!

Never forget

I didn't care for the Majin Buu fight too much, it just felt exactly like what should happen in a typical fight. Best Buu up a little then lose when he gets serious.

Gohan vs Lavenda is now one of my favorite fights in the show though.

I liked the Buu fight better but to each their own. While I don't regret being skeptical awhile before, I can admit this may indeed be a return to form for Gohan after all, at least for now... About time though; this was way, way past due.

Aside from that, I kinda get where everyone's coming from. I also long for having more traditional power-based battles which I'm starting to miss, but I also welcome these intelligence & ability-based fights from opponents of other universes, especially since it'll also help get other Z-fighter fan favorites back on the radar, as pointed out. All and all, it's more or less a win-win.

I liked the Gohan fight, but I hated the fact that Gohan lost how he did.

It was a draw, not a loss.

He lost because he didn't even go super Saiyan 2 to win.

Well it was established that the more he powered up, the faster the poison was spreading through his body. Maybe that was why he didn't go SSJ2 or mystic, though I would've preferred he did under normal circumstances. Still, even this fight was a step up from how he's been for awhile.

I wonder if Mystic would have made the poison progress faster because it seems to be less strain on the body than your usual Super Saiyan forms. Maybe this will be what makes Gohan pursue the Mystic path again in case they have a rematch in the tournament!

I hope Old Kai pulls him aside after these matches and is like "What are you doing boy?!" and Gohan finally gives us an explanation on what is up with Mystic at the moment.

Now that you've mentioned it I almost have to have that happen, Yamcha.

Hm, is there any point to Gohan transforming? I took it that he went SSJ only to exploit his ki radar.

This episode proved Gohan still didn't train and he is not at the level he was against Super Buu.

Is mystic even a thing anymore? Did Toriyama just forget about it?

Or is he saving it for when Gohan finally trains the form, and achieves Freeza like gains?

Maybe...I wouldn't be surprised if they forgot about mystic.

So, a lot of really disturbing things came out now. Apparently, "god level" isn't a "go at your own pace" thing, but more a cutthroat "up or out" imperative. If you don't have enough god level characters, your universe might be culled at any time. That revelation adds a new spin on Beerus's desperation to meet a super saiyan god.

That last episode pretty much confirmed Beerus and Whis's positions. Looks like the angels are basically representatives of the true powers of the multiverse, and give the gods free reign on a short leash. Odds are, if Beerus or Champa acted outside their functions (Say, by choosing not to destroy planets), their assistants would turn on them and either strip them of their rank, or destroy them and have them replaced..

No wonder Whis is never worried about Zeno, since angels are safe from being erased. That kind of changes the view of his character from easygoing good guy, to cold as ice snob who doesn't care about things that don't affect him personally.

The whole angel lineup and Zeno have a horrific power dynamic with the lower worlds.

They should make Beerus train secretly and surpass Whis, then take things into his own hands, crushing one by one until Zeno comes.
