More and more people waking up to Goku not really being a good character...
Goku is a fantastic character.
He's just not inherently a good person lol. I think the possibility of there being so many new strong fighters he could go against has short circuited his other emotions.

Goku used his super Saiyan blue form to early in the tournament. Toppo has witnessed it's power and doesn't seem worried. Goku will probably lose this battle.
Nah... Toppo looses and see they have powerful opponent to defeat. Alien from the same petrol takes Toppo defeat very seriously.
Goku went SSB early, because he has new transformation in his sleeve.

No. Goku is a garbage character.
Japanese Goku at least. Zero character development over decades, a selfish man child.
Vegeta is a great character in Japanese or English, he is preserved either way.

We...will...see.
Anyways, I think Goku losing is going to change the rules of the fight so that no Universe is shredded.
I've hated Gohan since the beginning, (always thought the half-saiyan gene boost was the most non-sensical thing ever. Humans are vastly inferior afterall) but now I want him to replace Goku.
Gohan is a grown man with a family, understands decent human behavior and justice. He needs to surpass Goku and show him what a true hero looks like.
I would be totally ok if the plot turn in the end is that Goku ends up being the final villain, power hunger and war-loving as he is, and Gohan ends up having to put him down.

That twist would be so epic its impossible to happen.

The sheer power Goku just whipped out was insane, and he didn't even look particularly fatigued.

Replace Gohan with Piccolo and I'm fine with that.

And makes sense why Goten and Trunks aren't there. Goten and Trunks can use teamwork but they are kids, and cocky. Goku is bad at teamwork but has the power to not need it, same with Vegeta.
Yup, I can't wait for universal royal battle! Especially, the unique teamwork involved in the upcoming fights. Android sibling fusion? I wonder how strong they're now? And Master Roshi is going to make any differences here?
Originally posted by CosmicCometThere is nothing wrong with this in of itself. You're stupid if you think Goku being a selfish manchild instead of a "true hero" makes him a bad character. In fact, it already does enough to make him more interesting than a generic "true hero" character.

No, the problem with Goku's character is that he never really has to suffer real consequences for his glaring personality flaws. Everyone loves him despite his behavior. He gets to have his cake and eat it too. That is the problem. The story could be more interesting if the supporting cast are put in the awkward position of being forced to rely on Goku despite not actually liking him for his selfish or (as of recent events) monstrous behavior.
