Oh my, forgot that was a thing... 😂 While I'm still not really a fan of GT, it is funny how it was deemed more acceptable to hate it, both then and now, because Toriyama wasn't at the helm for it, but now that we got him back as Senileyama, Super typically gets the kind of backing or defending that GT never got, even in its dumbest written moments.

Really thinking about it though, the main problem with GT, aside from the obvious things it did wrong, was how quick it happened and came out just after Z. I know it was just a quick attempt at getting more money after Z's success, but what kinda makes Super reasonate with people better was how it made Dragon Ball come back years after a hiatus, because people were burned out after Z and then shortly GT.

That's not the only reason, though.

For example, give me one fight from GT that was as good as Goku vs Gohan this episode, or Goku vs Hit, or hell, even Basil vs Boo.

Super is worse, IMO. The only good things to have come from it thusfar are Beerus and Hit.

EDIT: Actually, I take that back. Black was initially pretty cool, too, although he progressively got less interesting.

I don't have the best memory of GT like Stiltman prolly does, so can't really contest that, but from everything I do recall of both shows, I don't disagree that Super's had some better/more memorable fights overall. SSJ4 Goku had his moments too though I felt. Still kinda miss the super dragon fist for instance.

But yeah.

Fights aren't Super's strongest suit... can't say I'll ever forget this:

Anyway, Baby Saga, Super Android 17, Omega Shenron... while inferior to the original series and having repeated scenes, those battles were still fun... while *most* battles in Super made me want to see another family man Vegeta moment or even Gohan and Mr. Satan playing with Pan...

Couldn't even feel a thing when Frieza was torturing Gohan and blasted a hole through Piccolo.

Gotta love that Teamfourstar voice acting. 😆

The fights got better after the two movie rerun arcs, or at least by the time Goku vs Hit happened. There's no denying it was all awful before that though, especially the Gohan and Piccolo example there. Epic fail attempt to recapture feels from the first time it happened with them and Nappa. lol

GT was pretty good but Super is better imo.

In my opinion, Super's biggest mistake was having Goku facing Beerus right in the first arc... huge gap in power and all of that god-bullshit upgrade... smh.

It's not just like discovering another transformation...

Just imagine if Beerus is nagging Goku about SSJ God, and suddenly:

"Hi, I'm Freeza! And I just trained for FOUR MONTHS!"

"Hi, I'm #17. Anyone see any poachers here?"

"Daddy, I just trained for two days! Look at me now!"

"Hey Goku, I just visited this haunted forest..."

One of the better things about GT was you never had people telling you you weren't a true fan or something if you didn't favor it.

GT was boring for the most part. Despite all the inconsistencies in the Super anime that are what most people, including me, complain about, and the artwork a lot (but I also find most modern day anime to have just bad art anyway) Super at least isn't as boring as Black Star Dragon Ball saga was.

Still not seeing how Piccolo handling an out of touch SSJ2 Gohan is anywhere as bad as those other examples.

I didn't find that bad example. I said that Piccolo schooled him, not overpowered him. It was fine by me. Gohan had the power, but he was way out of shape.

Piccolo ain't doing that to SSJ2 Gohan from episode 90.

I think SSB is way out of SS3 league power wise.

Didn't Vegeta make that kid Sayian wet his pants when he went SSJB? So the power increase must be significant, it's not just about ki control...

Agreed.

And we just remember how Beerus treated Goku SSJ3 and SSR Goku. SSB>SSR and now SSB is even improved from that time.

Power increase is very significant.

What they should've done here is simply say the tournament is in 1 year as opposed to 2 days and then have a series of training montage episodes of Goku and Vegeta teaching all 10 characters god ki and then letting them create their own new techniques/abilities in order to compensate for the raw power differences there are between themselves and Goku/Vegeta.

As to the tournament, I don't like this 40 minutes time limit one bit. Should've been one week and should've been on an arena that resembles an actual planet.

Agreed. The Z fighters had a year to prepare for the arrival of the Saiyans and a flipping three years of training to prepare for the Androids, but don't get that kind of time to prepare for something like the ToP? smh And yeah, I mentioned earlier that they should've taught all them what Goku and Vegeta learned about ki control to bring out further potential in them.

To be fair at least for could of had a year. But let's forget about the time chamber. And a year would have been to long. Goku wanted it now.

So, is it just me or is Goku and Vegeta holding Goten and Trunks back from being really powerful? Goten and Trunks want to fight something they are told no, they don't get trained by anyone so have to train themselves and they aren't exactly masters as they were trained for a month for a tournament 8 years prior. They don't have a Piccolo to run to either like Gohan.

Also I seen something on Facebook that made me remember how Mommy like Piccolo was about baby Pan, why isn't he training Pan instead of Goku?

Not only that, but Buu gets thrown under the bus like three times now in the show? They made you think at first he was actually gonna be on the team this time and showed him training some, but nope, have him fall into a deep sleep again and thus a replacement is needed; enter Frieza.

It makes me wonder how Mr Satan was able to win so many tournaments if Buu falls asleep every two minutes.
