Dragon Ball Discussion Thread

Almost forgot, did anyone else take note of how Goku played Frieza for a fool on the wishing him back to life thing if their universe wins, due to the earth dragon balls' limitations and since they were already used to bring Frieza back once before? Or will the revival limitations be yet another one of Super's retcons and Frieza will be brought back again with them anyway?

It was PIS. There's no reason Vegeta shouldn't have also been in that protective barrier Whis created, especially considering he was in his SSB state. Hell, there's no reason Vegeta would not have been able to tank Frieza's attack only to hold his breath and join Whis in the protective barrier afterwards. Just a poorly written effort to insure that Goku got all the glory in the end even when he had no business getting it. God forbid someone besides Goku or Gohan save the day. 🙄

Frieza would probably get erased and removed from existence forever. This tournament will be his last showing. Also, the tournament is 48 hours long, Frieza involvement in the tournament is only 24 hours. He will not make it.

My problem with a lot of db fans is this weird nostalgia glasses they wear. As if db was ever deep. It never was. It was always fun characters, fun concepts, fun fight scenes with overdramatization. As long as this series has that I cant complain.

So true. Look through this thread and other threads and look at the complaining. It is rare finding anyone in here saying "that was a good fight" without adding the "but". I have been yelling that throughout this thread...just enjoy the show and stop dissecting everything. They just can't do it. They can't. I'm glad a lot of them are not comic fans because they wouldn't live for a week. Cap taking on hulk, Batman making Superman bleed, Deathstroke beating Wonder Woman. I guess I am past the complaining about a cartoon. Oh well.

Dragonball only has one rule .. dont be boring.

I do have a side question. King yemma said you are not allowed to pass to the other side unless you repent. That why frieza is in hell. My question is so if say...cell repented what happens?

Your holier than thou attempt is laughable when you complain about others having different opinions on the show than you day in and day out, and I am a comic fan, and if jobbing examples like those become the norm, of course there'll be complaining, just like there was with like Gohan or SSJB Goku jobbing to Krillen and stuff. Even Z I have my criticisms of while still liking the show. God forbid right? I mean I know you probably care more about whether Goku still has the tools/feats to beat Superman at the end of the day than you do quality of a series because that's what it all comes down to for versus thread warriors like you, but goddamn.

The dragonballs haven't had that stipulation since Kami died.

mmm Well if they did... What if Goku later felt bad for fooling Frieza, so he decides to use the super dragon balls to resurrect him for compensation? I'd laugh but wouldn't put it past Goku on that either, and then he be like "Don't worry guys, I'll keep him in check, trust me".

Yes they do because the current dragon was used from the same mold as kami's. Thats the reason goku didnt come back after the cell games wish

I complain about one thing, people coming in here with the same argument every day, they don't like the show. We get it but don't try to spread that virus to other members. Look at my arguments. I'm always saying "stop watching the show if you don't like it". Complaining a couple of times is ok but if you're consistently complaining during EVERY episode, it's time to retire and find something new...especially when we are almost at 100 episodes.

Fair enough. If I really hated/despised Super that much then I'd stop watching the same way I've unfollowed some other series, but with Dragon Ball there usually tends to be enough fun things that draws me back to it, even if something I hope for doesn't happen or if I still don't like it now as much as Z, but hey, that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

The entire Goku vs Beerus fight would suggest otherwise. Not to mention Goku's recent encounter where him and 17 were taking on that fodder poacher dude.

They'll either retcon it and make Frieza significantly less evil upon being revived or Frieza will void the entire agreement by betraying Universe 7 in some shape or fashion.

EDIT: Actually, I think that rule has already been retconned/amended, given Piccolo's recent revival after being killed in the ROF arc.

Dragon Ball was never actually deep per se (like Berserk or Code Geass or something), but it wasn't the depth that allowed it to thrive. Its success was the result of a a simple yet likeable cast of fleshed out characters, innovative story arcs (at the time) and great fight scenes. We got this consistently from Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball's Frieza arc. The series started going downhill when Toriyama was no longer passionate about continuing (particularly the cell saga, which although good overall, was where we really started seeing problems that would plague the rest of the series).

honestly even before that. People like to put early dbz on a pedestal but honestly I thought the saiyan sagas major battles were kinda wack. Especially if you compare goku vs vegeta to goku vs piccolo at the world martial arts tournament.

Being honest, up to the Cell saga, I'd have considered Toriyama a genius. The art by the Buu saga was 100 percent "not trying anymore."

But now, he looks like all sellout.

I'm not one of the people who put early DBZ on a pedestal (I enjoyed pretty much all of it), but there is no denying Toriyama lost the give a damn or passion he once had for his creation by the time of Buu saga at the very least. It's kinda why I have no problem seeing how Dragon Ball moves on without him if it does.

I remember watching DB and DBZ and X-Men: TAS. That was time I was watching those three and have always thought X-Men was more quality, deeper and better show.

Otherwise, I like all... DB, DBZ, DBGT and DBS. DBS is the best for me, especially because of shorter fights, it's not dragging and of course by far most important.... Black.

DBZ is great but I agree, DBS is better imo.
