Dragon Ball Discussion Thread

It can't be helped by this point but Dragon Ball doesn't even feel that original anymore when like Super takes idea or inspiration from certain fanfics or fan-made work. Sure, they do their own spin on it and we got some cool things from it like Goku Black and this tournament of power if it's well executed, but even still...

To each their own on what generation of DB they like best though. I used to see some say they liked GT better than Z for similar reasons like shorter fights that aren't dragged out as much, but they were a minority. If you take out the anime filler though, I wouldn't say Z suffered that much from being dragged out aside from the Buu arc. You could maybe say the Frieza Namek arc too, but that was originally intended to be the end of the series.

It's all different strokes different folks. I like watching good fight scenes as much as the next guy (and Goku vs Hit is definitely one of the best fights in all three canonical series), but to me, the method and manner of storytelling is a lot more important, which is why Super has thus far fallen short for me. Paper thin storylines, retcons, plot holes, obvious plot contrivances, pointless filler (which, I still don't understand why this show has when it doesn't have a manga to avoid catching up with) and dull antagonists (which is what Zamasu ended up being) just don't do it for me. 🙁

Don't forget bad characterization. It's alright with some of the new characters, like Beerus and Hit, but the main cast is 😘 in Super.

I know it's all speculation, but if that's where they end up going in the end with Kale, then cool. I know we guessed before that the image of the slimmer looking Kale was just her regular pre-legendary SSJ form, but if it's actually a more "mastered" LSSJ state where she's in more control of her power and not always just berserking, then at least it's something new.

I wouldn't mind if Kale had a mastered LSSJ form, but Broli kind of already had his mastered. He was fine in movie 10 as LSSJ. Heck he's only lost because of plot in three movies

I guess, but the stuff Masako said about Broly's power damaging his psyche (thus making him permanently insane and stuff) because of first getting overwhelming power at such an early age compared to Kale also made sense... IDK

Idk, I don't think his power had anything to do with it tbh. More like just the stabbed and then a father who used him to get revenge, and other junk like that. Plus saiyans.. aren't exactly the most stable mentally to begin with. haha

Broly didnt seem particularly insane to me. He just seemed like a sadist drunk on power that was clearly unmatchable.

Edit: at least not insane in the sense be didn't know better.

Movie 10 Broli was the..insane one. Movie 8 Broli was perfectly capable of coherent thought and was a sadist. The one who yelled Kakarotto all the time was movie 10. Movie 8 did it when he seen Goku right before becoming lssj

Oh... Okay, I got my Dragon Ball movie numbers mixed up. Yeah, I think his time of hibernation and slow recovery after the PIS defeat Goku gave him just messed him up in the head over time, which was why we got movie 10 Broly, unfortunately. He was still coherent and stuff in the first film though as pointed out.

Well, he was frozen in ice for 7 years. That's bound to have some bad effect on your mind, while having a gaping chest wound, near death, and all that. Then hearing the sound, even if Goten was fake crying to get food, of what haunts you from the first night you nearly died.

I'm still seeing some talk and videos and stuff about Quitela giving an offer to Frieza which is getting kinda annoying. Maybe the mouse GoD will offer Frieza permanent access to his universe's Chuck E Cheese so he won't have to go back to staying in a caccoon.

It's a pity movie 10 and Bio-Broly were so disappointing in comparison to the original.

What about that 4D fight? Is it out?

What was more disappointing was the cliffhanger with Broly wrecking havoc in hell which SSJ3 Goku was gonna go and handle, but we never got it as a movie because of how badly received movie 10 and Bio-Broly were.
