On that note: no potential universal feats occurred in this episode, as some early [mis]translations stated. The actual dialogue:
*Elder Kaioshin: "That explosion just now was created from the collision of Goku and Beerus-sama's tremendous ki, but... That produces super, super high-density energy. If it goes flying off, then... This time for sure, it'll be the end of the world!"

*Satan: "Oh... It's just like the end of the world, isn't it?"
*Whis: "Correct [...] For Super Saiyan God to possess this much power was unexpected. At minimum the Earth or several neighboring planets will be destroyed."
*Satan: "The world will end...? Please! Use your magic to protect everyone, like you did earlier!"
*Whis: "Don't be ridiculous. There's no way I could stop power capable of destroying the world, is there?"

Aside from that, I literally lol'd @ the 'explanation' we were given as to why the energy released from the clash was no longer universal, despite them operating at even higher levels in this episode:
*Kaioshin: "Even though they're clashing together such powerful attacks, they're not generating any universe-destroying vibrations!? Why?"
*Elder Kaioshin: "Can't you tell? Probably because it's just a fight."

none
...You can tell feats/battles of this magnitude are entirely out of Toriyama's element. He isn't even attempting to make sense at this point. 😂

wait I thought Whis said it was capable of destroying the universe.

How are there so many different translations. Also why is the translation you are using the correct one. Just wondering.

That's why I label all of this as "New Dragon Ball material", which is an elegant way to say something different...

^ It's Herms, from Kanzenshuu.

I guess my real question is what makes this the most official translation?

Herms and Dragon Team(where the subs I post come from) are BY FAR the most reliable fan-subs anywhere on the internet. Most of the other subbers out there don't actually know much(if any) Japanese themselves, and just try to plug the dialogue into Google-translator or whatever. Conversely, Herms and Dragon Team are actually fluent in both reading and speaking Japanese--that's why their translations are so reliable.

It's the same basic reason we get these kinds of discrepancies...

Unofficial scanlation:

"galaxieS"

Official translation:

"planetS"

Feel me?

Reading/translating Japanese is an art that takes years of practice to perfect. It's not a casual hobby that anyone(who expects accuracy) can dabble in. Many people don't grasp that concept--ergo mistranslated dialogue.

The anime is canon though which gave us a translation of Universe. So that is what we would go by.

Jesus Christ. The subs I posted are FROM the anime. facepalm

But fret not, carver: Goku and Beerus still preformed legit universal feats in the last episode--they just didn't do so again in this episode. Why? Because as Toriyama so elegantly stated: it was "just a fight" this time. Lulz.

To be fair DBZ characters have always been portrayed as doing less collateral damage than they should. The most egregious example would be Vegeta vs Majin Buu. "It's just a fight" might just be his way of saying they've come to their senses and stopped running rough shot. That kinda is why the third clash didn't destroy the universe last time.

At least that's how I'm gonna take it.

Thats how I interpreted it as well. Goku was able to control the clashes to the point that the universe was no longer being harmed by their fight.

I'm sure that is the case.

The actual dialogue, however, doesn't even qualify as a piss-poor attempt at trying to explain what was happening... That's all I'm poking fun at.

I suppose. Then again before I don't think we ever got an explanation to why they don't just accidentally destroy the planet. Maybe Toriyama didn't give one because "it's just a fight" was the best he could come up with? 😛

I see comments saying this fight is better than the one in BoG....How?

For me, it's the fact that in the last episode their blows threatened to destroy the universe... Yet in this episode, when they were operating at much higher levels, we didn't see any real collateral damage simply because "it's just a fight now"..? Lol, my 5 year old daughter can come up with something better than that 😛. As I mentioned: you can tell battles of this scope are just WAY out of Tori's depth. He clearly has no clue wtf he's doing.

I was wondering about that as well. I suppose a few parts of the multi-episode DBS battle have been good, but in terms of overall choreography and pace, it has been far less enjoyable to watch than their battle in BoG, imo. I've actually been thoroughly displeased with it... But opinions vary, I guess. /shrug

I honestly would have preferred it if "The Threat to the Universe" had to do with Beerus' Ki rather than... punch waves.

As in, Beerus having so much/dense Ki that powering up to 100% could warp space time, shift the balance of the entire universe if kept so high for any extended period, leading to indirect devastating consequences. At least to me, that makes more sense/is cooler than inconsistent, ever expanding, universe disintegrating punch shock waves.

From the comments that have been going around I can't tell if you're praising or dissing Super as of now. I mean this fight has kind of sucked ep 12 aside but there has been a mixed bag of late concerning the fights quality either gushing over Goku having a universal feat or complaining about Toriyama's half-cooked explanations as to why things are happening.

Then again I doubt Toriyama or Toei cares.

I would have preferred this concept much more. 👆

DBS was pretty good up until the point Goku went SSJG. Since then, it has been... Disappointing, to say the least.

But this right here makes me think the sub's you watched were wrong. The clash between there energy attack's must have been universal. No possible way it wasn't.

It just isn't consistent with the sequence of events. And it is the only translation of many that says worlds.

I get that is a difficult thing to do but that doesn't make one or accurate than another.

Two guys fight in a bar.

Barman: Relax, everyone. It's just a fight. They won't do any significant damage.

It was universal. Remember when Beerus cancelled out the attack? The energy spread throughout the Universe into the Kai dimension. They thought the Universe was gone.
