So Gamma 1 and 2 are supposed to be equal to Goku and Vegeta.

Gohan doubts Goku and Vegeta could have beaten Cell Max.

Also they were created in a really short time meaning SSB form is a joke and a scientist can easily create more poweful androids......

facepalm

Where did you find the movie... was the video quality fine?

I assume Toriyama/the movie is not taking Ultra Instinct, Ultra Ego, or any of that into account and that even in this film, the highest Goku and Vegeta still have is just the Blue form?

That's... a good theory, seeing how the last movie had Goku and Vegeta refraining from (unable to?) using their amped blue forms (Kaio-ken and Evolved).

Films, show and manga have plenty of little differences. Each should be treated as separate continuities, imho.

As for the movie it is ok there is barely any action in the 1st hour, story is not bad kinda simple.

It is about the revival of RR army, the leader convinces Dr. Hedo (Dr. gero Grand son) to build the gammas to fight of the Capsule Corpse (Goku and friends). He says that they are villains who want to take over the world , killed the heroic Cell and the world needs him to build New super heroes...

How does it compare to the earlier Super films?

The films really are hit or miss. Battle of the Gods and DBS Broly? Great. Resurrection F and Super Hero? Abysmal.

Just like different arcs of the series though (Z included), different films will appeal to different demographics where fans of one wont like the other much, so depends on who you ask.

For me it's-

Broly
BoG
Super Hero
RoF

For me it was boring...the fights are ok nothing too flashy the animations were kinda basic...

Orange Piccolo and Final Gohan were cool....screentime was really short...

The Gammas were uninteresting for me...

Cell Max was lame he is shooting laser beams out from his whole body just like Shin Godzilla....

Broly movie remains the best for me...

Its a 1 Time watch definetly worse than the other movies......

I will say that I was not a fan of the animation style at all. Not sure why they went that route, but the whole movie reminded me of a video game cut scene.

The animation didn't really bother me....what did is that the fights were crappy....

Was mainly so that animating Cell (or rather a worse version of him that no one asked for) would be more bearable due to the spots and all that.

Gonna get a lot of hate for this, but this has been my problem since the start of Super/BoG 😛

Just kidding. Honestly, time has made me more forgiving of GT with how I've become increasingly critical of Toriyama. Before Dragon Ball "came back" in the early to mid 2010's, it was always said that Toriyama having little to no involvement in GT was why it "failed", when ironically, it was the best thing that could've happened to it.

That said, the parts of Super that Toriyama didn't have much involvement with I tend to like more than the parts where he's at the helm. Except for Broly; he did did fine in giving a modernized version of the character that most liked (and the movie had some of the best fight choreography to boot), but then played a reverse-uno card when it came to Cell, this film of which happens to have crap choreography apparently.

On the whole though, both Toei and Toyotaro I just find have more interesting ideas for Dragon Ball content on average compared to modern Toriyama, even if they don't always work out; that goes for both GT and the Super anime on Toei's end. Thankfully, all Tori does is just direct the occasional movie, while everyone else does their own thing even if he leaves some cliff notes, but the less he touches the series the better, imo.

I liked the movie better than BoG and RoF, Broly was better though.
The most what bothered me was retconning the power level difference between Jiren and Saiyans in ToP, very annoying.

Orange Piccolo is a beast now, while Silver Gohan is just on another level 🙂

"Once completed" Cell Max would have surpassed Broly... But he was released early and so was never completed.

So Broly should still be well above the Semi-Perfect Cell Max we saw in the movie.

Didn't Hedo say Cell Max is already complete they just had to finish the mind control process?

Translation is not official though....

Right, the body of Cell Max was finished, but that extra mental aspect of his character was still very much incomplete -- which is why he was basically just a giant, mindless berserker. I took Tori's statement to mean that if *every* facet of Cell Max would have been completed upon his release, he may have surpassed Broly... But since that wasn't the case, I'm not quite sure if he was actually on the level of a guy who required a SSB fusion just to put down. /shrug

That said, I am firmly of the belief that Tori has absolutely no clue what he's doing with scaling at this point(now more than ever), so who f*cking knows? He did give Gohan "the strongest" title not long ago, after all. /shrug

On that note, it's also amusing that Tori has named Gohan's new form "Beast Gohan", lol.

Even if Cell Max was > Broly, would not care since it isnt the OG Cell. Would be a funny way to end the age old Cell vs Broly debate nonetheless, but glad there seems to be an implication that Cell Max isnt all that.
