Cell shouldve just done a few pushups so he could catch up to Max in power after insulting him rather than want to call Shallot to do the job.

Zeno is so pointless.
Besides the odd ToP every 100 million years or whenever, what does he actually do besides sit around and play games? He has absolutely no reason at all for existing.
Angels, GoD's, Kai's all have real jobs. Yeah we never see Beerus actually do his, but you assume he's destroying planets between binging on Earrh and long naps.
If I was to have a how it should've ended for Super Hero, Krillen would just do a solar flare x 100 on Cell Max, blinding him for a godly amount of time along with Gohan after he clumsily drops the senzu bean that was tossed to him. Everyone else lays on the damage, while Max can only swing around blindly. Orange Piccolo then charges up a different colored special beam cannon on Max to go with the new form, whom up to that point was the hero of the film anyway, and finishes the job accordingly.
"I'd been so used to believing in you Gohan and your asspull powerups, when really I just needed to believe in myself again!"
Alternatively, "father-son special beam cannon" could've been a thing.
And yeah, Zeno as a character felt pretty pointless. Just more comic relief.

So the wish in Super Hero gave Piccolo god ki as well huh? Apparently Dende has some slowly growing god ki which resulted in Shenron being able to give it to Piccolo, but Kami was considered a god (in the loosest sense of the word), so if anything, would think Piccolo would be the first Z-fighter to get god ki since he merged with a guardian of earth who created Shenron before Dende, but cant expect Dragon Ball to have consistency.
Oh, the Piccolo god ki thing from my last post was another false alarm. Turns out Goten and Trunks were so bad at sensing energy, they could sense Dende, but not the massive ki Piccolo created when he transformed. Still stand by the point in my last post though in that he shouldve had god ki earlier if anything.
And so much for god ki not being able to be sensed by mortals like how they originally established it, on top of god ki becoming a trivialized if not meaningless title the moment Frieza started doing pushups. lol

I hope we get a real gotenks in the manga. Or better yet no gotenks and just goten and trunks doing fighting
A really easy plot device would have been to simply invent an opposing force to "god ki" with "Demon ki".
Freeza is a Frost demon after all. Make it so he unlocked a long dorment Demonic energy.
Or in other words finish ripping off Yuu Yu Hackusho.
Comparison images like this by certain fans are always... interesting.
My response-
. The Super movies were hit or miss at best; half were alright while the other half were shit if I'm being generous.
. A multiverse DBS they made no use of beyond one tournament and probably won't be explored again at this rate, along with its characters introduced. Would like to be wrong there though.
. Goku remained an adult in body... but became a child in mind. GT kid Goku showed a cartoonish about of stupidity at times also though.
. Powerups aside, Vegeta got more development in GT, although I prefer his usual hair over the shorter hair that GT gave him.
. Shame about the Bardock retcons though, among all the other unwarranted changes of modern day Dragon Ball.
. At least GT knew when to end and didn't have time/resource wasting recaps.
Also noticed this image calls out GT Vegeta needing a machine to reach SSJ4, but not Granolah, Gas, or Piccolo having to wish for power or new forms. Whoever made this otherwise just gave up halfway when they were writing on the GT side.
In a weird way, I kinda now see the Buu saga as the beginning of Super. Was the starting point of when we had mostly off screen training and out of nowhere new forms like SSJ3. There was no buildup for it like there was for SSJ1 or 2; we just found out Goku had it one day, so SSJ3 is not dissimilar to the usual asspull new forms of Super in that sense.
Buu saga was also the starting point of Toriyama having no editors, and how it was needlessly dragged out reflected that. The Black/Zamasu arc had the same problems though (its ending aside), but was still one of my favorite DBS arcs despite that.
Another thing that occurred to me, if Beast Gohan is supposed to be a rage boost version of the Mystic form (both being possible as a result of the Elder Kai ritual), then why did he not get mad and pull Beast form out of his ass when Super Buu absorbed Piccolo & Gotenks, and other such moments before Super Hero?
I suppose that be like asking why did Piccolo not try to have his potential unlocked before the ToP or something, but go with me here. 😛
I mean, all of Buu saga was Gohan not being able to tap into the rage because he's not a child that easily gets angry. So all that rage boost doesn't happen.
Videl being beaten and unable to stop it was the only thing that allowed him to go ssj2 against Kibito also, but then after he lost that anger so he couldn't use it any more.

Videl had already been stomped by Spopovich(and completely healed by a senzu bean) before Gohan even fought Kibito. It was never once alluded to that Gohan had a one-off 'rage boost' moment that enabled him to use SS2 against Kibito, and Kibito alone. He was simply showing off the full extent of his power at the time.
It was minutes after Videl gets stomped, and Gohan raging out that he fights Kibito. That anger is fresh. And the only time we see Gohan go ssj2. Lightning aura and all. Even if Videl did get healed, he's still filled with that rage at Sopopovich.
Hours later after Gokou and Vegeta are fighting, and Shin and Gohan are confronting Dabura and Babidi, Gohan is saying he can't get angry like he did against Cell to tap into the power he had then, and never once is lightning aura'd and ssj2.
Dabura was stated to have a similar power level as Cell - there is no way a weakened, extremely rusty, nerd version of Gohan could fight him so well without going SSJ2, imho.
And Toriyama & Toei have a really long history of forgetting to draw/animate SSJ2 form properly, I believe.
Didn't Tori himself say that he forgot about it?
This is certainly a pretty interesting topic, I don't think this "Was Gohan SSJ2 against Dabura?" debate will ever end.
Originally posted by KentoI think you need to reread the scene. There wasn't even a hint of legitimate rage/anger when Gohan encountered Kibito.
