Through vicious training with Beerus and also being on a God planet (that plays a part as well since Vegeta is able to sense God Kai now AND Goku outright saying the planet has its perks). It's not like Vegeta went into a chamber or something and became as powerful as Goku. The guy is training with the most powerful being in the universe that is taking Vegeta through training sessions that he is questioning. Moral, Goku yellow Super Saiyan form> Red hair. NOTHING was implied that Goku lost this amp either. With that said...since Goku has been going through insane training with Whis, he has done nothing but become stronger. So Goku powered all the way down into base form and was trying to shake Frieza's hand when Sorbet blasted him. Though why they didn't have Frieza do a quick turn and death beam him is beyond me.
And Frieza really beat the shit out of Goku badly until he weakened too much. There was like 3 times where Goku was "beat" but Frieza didn't capitalize enough or ran out of power.
The next episode looks like repeat of the movie where Vegeta beats him into final form and then he kablooeys the planet. Interested to see if they deviate any.

Would also like to add that both Vegeta and Goku survived an all out hit from Beerus in their BASE FORM. They survived Beerus power at 100% in their base. Red hair Goku was knocked unconscious by Beerus using less than that on multiples of occasions.

Question about power levels. Was fat buu that fought ssj3 goku and later Kid Buu, had the same power level like during his first appearances or he gotten slightly weaker w/o kid buu inside of him?
Also, was he weaker when he fought evil buu? Can Majin Vegeta beat him during this time during the split?

Having the two make the same mistake of letting their guard down when Frieza gets backed into a corner is still stupidly redundant, yeah, but I wasn't expecting that much to change from the movie; just the more minor stuff.
But still unless Vegeta powers down a 'always on his guard' Super Saiyan Blue still gets killed by a planet exploding making Freeza still one of the most durable characters in DBZ ever.
