In the movie Vegeta died from not being able to breath in space.
Frieza is the only being in DBZ that had a chance to experience a planet exploding on him. Everyone else died from the energy output of their opponent.

Still don't understand how Buu died, he can survive in space. But at least Gohan is training again, I wonder if the tournament will have Gohan in it in the anime. Since the manga said he stopped training and became weak, while the anime he's back to training again and it would be stupid after all that to have Gohan go back to not training after just a couple months or whatever.
