Vegeta actually let go of his Ego at the end of the Cell Saga. He accepted that Goku was better than him, and that Gohan was the new protetor of Earth. He even went on to say he will never fight again.

I don't care that he hugged his son and kill himself. The fact is, Vegeta threw away his pride as a Saiyan when he allowed Badidi to control him. Worse yet, he killed a bunch of innocent people in front of his Son and Wife just to force Goku to fight.

In all of Dragon Ball, Piccolo till this day still have the best character development. From watching his life from childhood to adulthood.

He started out as a villain in Dragon Ball, to an ally in the Saiyan Saga, a sadistic teacher to Gohan, only to start caring for the kid and becoming a mentor for him. Then a Hero that sacrificed his life for the kid he came to love.

Piccolo's development continued till the Buu saga as the overall wise old man that's been around and seen some shit.

"I don't care that he made the biggest sacrifice he can possibly make trying to protect Earth"

Also the reason why he vowed to stop training was because Goku was gone. Because being better than Goku was his sole reason for living.
In the Buu saga even when he was "evil" he had other things he cared about. As well as a rivalry with Goku. So the timeline is as follows:

Gets evil, kills people, fights Goku
Confesses his love to his family, hugs his son and knocks him out to save him. Kills himself trying to save Earth.
Comes back, fuses with Goku which is huge considering how he feels about it, and is bribed with it because Buu killed Bulma.
Gets mad at Goku for letting their friends and family die by Kid Buu. Gets mad again because he learned Goku said Old Kai could kiss Bulma.
Admits Goku is better than him and is the best. Risks his life just so Goku can defeat Kid Buu.
Coordinates the plan to defeat Buu with a big spirit bomb and wishes the Earth back. And phrases it so that only pure hearted people would come back, specifically who he killed. Which wished him back indicating he wasn't evil, like he wanted when he became Majin.
And pleads with Earth and fights Kid Buu again.

But yeah no, vowing to never fight again and lashing out at Trunk's death are way better character builders.

I'm not denying that Piccolo has a lot of character development. But denying that the Buu saga was better for Vegeta than the Cell saga makes no sense. He spent that entire saga making stupid choices, and is redeemed because he said a couple words at the end of it? Don't destroy the Androids, let Dr Gero activate them, let Cell absorb 18. Don't let Trunks stop him. Don't destroy 18. Etc.

He didn't accept it. He knew he was weaker. .always has. And him saying he will no longer fight is cause Goku died. Vegeta never really turned good so much as he just wanted to be the strongest. So what he did with Badidi wasn't exactly out of character. Dude was willing to nearly die on name just for more power. He has never been above using whatever he can. In Buu he tells his son he loves him and actually sacrificed himself to save Earth when death was something he use to fear. And fought someone stronger instead of cowering because the universe was in danger. Buu saga is when Vegeta actually proves its his family he cares for not just power. And that he admits Goku is the best and he never will.

Hope they bring back Gohan. Annoying how they talk about him having the most potential and never use him.

I can only imagine how powerful Gohan who trained would be. Freeze would have came back and died instantly.

Seriously. I dont see why he should not reach SSB as well.

Half human characters always seem to be superior to full blood. I hope he keeps up his training and catches up to them on his own.

I'm all in support for Gohan training behind the scenes. I hope the show is building him up for the next fight vs. a God antagonist from the other 11 universes?

Gohan appears to save the day. After Monoka, Goku, and Vegeta are defeated

You people with your character regression. Let Gohan embrace his pussyness.

Yeah, phuck Gohan.

I WANT Goten and Trunks to do something worthwhile but it'll never happen.

I want characters to stay at their lower power level because it doesn't make sense for all these people to get to God Form in other universes. There should be threats to deal with on a still absurdly powerful level while Goku and Vegeta are growing beards.

It gives others something to do without making everyone equal. Plus it allows us to still see SS3 Gotenks. Plus we already have an excuse anyway for taking Gogeta out of the picture with the HBTM and training on Beerus' planet.

I don't want ssb Goten and Trunks. I just want them doing something instead of just being Gotenks for two seconds the sad tbey aren't fighting. But I could of went for some filler episodes of villains attacking after Freeza. While Goku and Vegeta are gone the halfbreeds and Piccolo save the planet.

True true.

Maybe Gohan will level up, but I can't ever see Gotenks becoming relevent. He's kind of as big of a joke character as Satan, in a different way.

Yea Gohan and Piccolo should be the only 2 to possibly reach higher levels

Dragonball would benefit greatly from just having set rivals and not just having someone come in and save the day like always.

You know...like in most of anime final battles nowadays. One Piece got this down pretty good if you ask me.

It seems like the Anime is always focusing on one upping the Manga. Examples of this is Goku and Beerus fight. Shockwaves were produced but if I'm correct, they didn't mention anything about a Universe almost being destroyed. Then the Beerus and Champa fight. They were destroying planets in the Manga with their hits. In the Anime, their punches were threatening the Universe. Lol...seems like they are competing against each other.

was pretty cool to see them stand in one spot and everything around them turn to dust.

well Old Kaioshin said the universe was in danger if it kept up when Goku fought Beerus cause they felt the shockwaves. But then Goku loses his energy after the next attack and that's the end. Also Champa and Beerus were about to destroy the universe in the manga until Vados and Whis stopped them in the manga.

Though the anime could be trying to one-up the manga, I don't see the manga doing the same thing.

It's funny though apparently Botamo couldn't be beaten in a real fight. Since Vegeta didn't think even transforming would harm him

You know, a good point was brought up, WHY haven't we gotten more Saiyanless centered stories after all these years?

Say, have Vidal and Yamcha go after whatever army popped up after the Red Ribbon Army. Maybe have Tien mixed up with Yakuza, who have their ki powered superman.

At the least, maybe put in a "B" plot where the humans do a tourney and finally settle who's best, while the Saiyans are off world?

I mean, look at Naruto or One Punch Man, where half the fun is following supporting characters fights.
