Officially: Sanders was in Rome for a conference, the meeting with the Pope wasn't scheduled, but it worked out, luckily for Sanders.
Not sure why you see a presidential runner meeting with the Pope as a bad thing, Sanders has a chance to be the next POTUS and the Pope is a major player in world politics.
I guess it almost seems like an endorsement though? Since I mean..lucky or not he is the only one the Pope sat down with. I just don't like religion getting too entrenched into politics. Or rather I don't like it getting even more entrenched then it already is.
On the other hand I do like Bernie and this could give him a boost who knows, but just overall..it rubs me the wrong way.

Okay, I just googled, the Torah was written by Moses. I'm not an atheist.
According to rabbinic tradition, all of the teachings found in the Torah, both written and oral, were given by God through Moses, a prophet, some of them at Mount Sinai and others at the Tabernacle, and all the teachings were written down by Moses, which resulted in the Torah we have today.
edit: You're banned now, no worries, we're off topic anyways.

Pope Francis told reporters:
"This morning when I was leaving, Senator Sanders was there, he had come to the convention. He knew I was leaving at that time and he had the courtesy to greet me. I greeted him, his wife, and another couple who were there and were sleeping in Santa Martha.
When I came down, I greeted him, I shook his hand and nothing more. This is called good manners and it is not getting involved in politics."
That is some desperate groupie behavior.
