Why is the theory of evolution considered a threat by certain Christians?

The science delusion is built on the belief that science already knows the nature of the universe.
It may or may not, only stupid people are certain of such things.

I think you might have missed my point, as I wasn't pushing, let alone even stating my personal beliefs. Just that 'is a god' and 'is no god ' are based on the same belief of "what you choose to believe".

edit: That's to psmith

The scientific believe is based on the idea that you can learn things by observation and tested, by providing a falsifiable claim, and seeing if you can prove it false, and then if you can't, saying 'it's the best information we have,' until you come up with a better test.

Our current scientific knowledge in major fields are things we test extensively, and one of the great things about science is it doesn't care what you believe.

If you do the tests, you'll get the same results- all it needs is your senses.

"Scientific belief is.."

"Science doesn't care what you believe..."

Unbelievable.

Not true at all.

Science is not a delusion. Perhaps you should learn more before you really look like a fool.

Unbelievable.

There's belief that things can be tested and based on evidence at all.

If you don't have that, well, then you can arbitrarily believe in anything.

But once you've gotten that step, you can go expecting and wanting something to be totally wrong and finding it right, you can go in expecting and wanting something to be right and finding it false, and the tests, the *evidence*, doesn't care what your beliefs are going in as long as you actually do the tests.

guys i would like to bring up a point

i had biology today and its an assignment on evolution
being a smartarse i asked " what if we don't believe in evolution?"

response

"thats fine but in the assignment i will need you to do a report on humanity's physical, social and mental states from the last 5000 years or so"

my teacher gave a almost non bias of having me do my report and not have to support or disprove evolution, he catered to my "needs" as if i really didnt believe in evolution... if we do or do not believe in the theory then we don't have to make someone else believe it to.

this is probs overlooked mumbo jumbo

Yeah, and if they don't believe in Algebra we shouldn't force children to learn that either.

a school system has a core of math and english curriculums.

these are what are needed to continue and "flourish" (couldnt think of a better word) in a western society

a religion is often a personal belief embraced by an individual

We also need people to have basic scientific understanding including one of the most well proven Biological theories, in order for society to flourish.

The same reason to discount evolution can apply to anything.
