Oregon Campus Shooting

Started by Digi29 pages

I just read a Forbes article - can't link it currently bc I'm on my phone - that went into detail about how Congress has banned the CDC from studying gun violence. I'm not talking about laws, restrictions, freedoms, etc. They can't STUDY it.

Most of its supporters are apparently Republican. The article quoted Boehner for a representative opinion, iirc. The argument was that guns aren't a disease. I agree, but that argument is shredded when compared to many of the other things the CDC is allowed to study.

I talked earlier about wanting more data. Regardless of which side of the issue we're all on, I hope we can agree that more information on this would be a good thing. Even if you object to the CDC doing it, find someone else to accomplish the same thing.

If you want Washington to do something, start there.

That's silly. If they want to say Guns prevent crime than they should be wanting this data to prove themselves right!!!

Not a fan of guns.

Shows they have a lack a faith in their own beliefs.

I agree the CDC shouldn't be studying guns or gun violence. Now whether or not the CDC studies things other then diseases I can't say, but if they do it doesn't mean you need to add more things to the list of stuff they shouldn't be studying. To be honest I wouldn't go to anyone in America to do a study of gun violence here, I'd ask another country to do it.

Though the fact gun studies were specifically banned suggests some sort of agenda.

The CDC does do data collection and studies on other things besides diseases some as tobacco use, drug use, alcohol abuse. I think they done health risk assessments on poor ventilation in buildings.

They do a lot and they used to do this type of data collection for guns until apparently they posted a study from someone at the CDC saying that residents with guns in their homes are three times as likely to be on the receiving end of gun violence back in the 90s. Their funding got cut from congress because of that now people are afraid to even touch the subject.

It's actually not I've known plenty of conservatives and liberals who work out hard... so this is just you trying generalize and insult a group of people to try and undercut them.

Fly and Star were definitely the type who ranted on and on and on about how "ripped" Paul Ryan was back in 2012 when he was almost a thing 👆
