I did consider it though, and there really isnt enough evidence to support it....

But that's just it....there isn't CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE to prove EITHER SIDE of the argument. Only opinions and interpretations. Even if NONE of them are true, there are enough "splinters" in the story that raise the question of "what-if?", that it cannot be totally dismissed. Subscribe to whichever theory you believe, but at this point, neither one can be PROVEN. We'll just have to wait until "Revolutions."

Also, I don't think the Wachowski's would be that predictable and cheesy.

I don't think the "More than 1 Level of Matrix" idea is predictable or cheesy at all. I find the idea intriguing and clever (sure would be a twist, wouldn't it?), and I never even considered it until a day or two after seeing M2.

Yeah exactly...2 days. How many predicted what would happen in Matrix Reloaded? I doubt many. So I don't think they're gonna make a film where the fans are gonna guess what happens in 2 days.

But there IS enough evidence. That was one of my first points. If you had watched the films properly (this including The Animatrix and the game) then you would know.

One specific line in the Matrix game say's it clear as day:

Spoiler:
Neo is trapped between your world and our world

Programs cannot exist outside of the Matrix.

Oh no, more than one Matrix IS cheesy. it is a cheap get out clause that has been used a hundred times before.

As do I.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is an easy way to wrap up all of the "loose-ends" in the story so to speak.

For example, If the machines are defeated, and all of the millions of humans still plugged into the Matrix suddenly "wake up," what will happen? Where will they all go? How do you feed them all? There aren't enough hovercraft in Zion's fleet to save them all from "drowning" when they get "flushed." Do you understand why I wonder about these things?

When I say i want an end it doesn't mean the matrix destroied, that would kill alot of people. But if you think about it the idea is not that farfetch(sp).
I just think more than one matrix would raise more questions that cant be answer. What i dont want is another clifhanger end! wich would be impossible because the actors are not bound by contract and it would be a big risk!

Now your just being sarcastic! Have a look at all the boards around the net and you will see the majority of people are agreeing or contemplating the Matrix within a Matrix theory. Do you really think that they would make it that easy? And yes, it is an easy and simple solution. It just aint gonna happen.

I've said it on other boards and I will say it here, I will actually laugh when everyone finds out it isn't.

Well it only takes one to talk about more than one Matrix for everybody to consider the theory! 🙂 I'm not gonna waste my time discussing (sp) this, I'm just not that big of a fan!

The matrix within a matrix theory is a simple solution!

Well, believe me.... I WANT to believe there is only 1 Matrix (with only 1 level), but there are just too many little "quirks" that raise doubts in my mind. Even going back to M1 (My previous post about Cypher). Just too many to be coincidence. Then again, maybe they're all just "red-herrings" meant to mis-lead us from the truth. However, I'm not so smug as to believe and suggest I know it all, and it cannot be any other way. I would like to suggest others here do the same.

1 Matrix, or 1 Matrix with more than 1 level....I will enjoy "Revolutions" and the whole Matrix series either way.

Indeed!

Then why bother to destroy zion? That would mean those machines you see are not real? Ok never mind.

I don't think people can grasp how Neo can control the machines (Sentinals) at the end of Reloaded. Remember what Morpheus said about the One before Neo. He could pass in and out of the Matrix at will.

Then in the game the Oracle says: Neo's mind has touched the source, he is trapped between your world and our world. etc etc.

Then the Architect says: "This process has altered your consciousness...although you remain irrevocably human"

His mind is still in the Matrix. If this is so then he can control anything linked with it (In theory). Or possibly it is an ability gained from Smith:

Something was copied, over written...whatever it was it doesn't matter...etc etc

He could control the Sentinels as an Agent. There are a few other explantions, but NONE of them come even close to showing that there is a Matrix within a Matrix.

Well....I can grasp that concept just fine.

I just think it requires a bit of a "reach" in believing in altered-consciousness, metaphysical power and psychic abilities.

I just like the more "logical" explanation of the "Multi-level Matrix" with everyone still plugged in.

Like I've said numerous times, I could be wrong and probably am.

Until we find out for sure, we can still discuss it.

Maybe he just as an internal modem lol A bi.product (sp) of the candy that the oracle gives to him, or of what smith did to him. Or simply it was the Hammer that stoped the sentinels and Neo pass out because his changing some how or was exausted! lol i'll wait till november or december!

Can someone post a poll so we can vote?(I tried to, but I was unsuccessful)
Everyone should post how they voted, but leave the discussion for this thread

Choices...

1. There is only 1 Matrix
2. The Matrix is Multi-Leveled

That way we can have a count, and we know where everyone stands, so when the story is concluded we know who can say "I told you so", and who needs to "eat crow" 🙂

eat crow?!thats a wierd expression!🙂

From the American Heritage dictionary:

"eat crow" is an idiom of "eat" defined as:
-to be forced to accept a humiliating defeat

similar to "eat one's words" which means:
-to retract an assertion

I apologize for the use of the idiom, I forget about the global audience these forums are exposed to.

I understand what it means 😄. i just always thought it was a wierd expression!🙂

And your point is...?
Contemplate for a second that in order to make the illusion of reality palatable the simple solution would be to design the "Zion" matrix in such a way that "...no programs can exist there".At least no programs that the humans know are programs, e.g. the agents. This is one possible reason why Bane, even though he has been taken over by Smith, still looks like Bane in the Zion. It's simply because Smith's image (how he looks in the 20th Century Matrix) does not and cannot exist in the "Zion" Matrix. Smith was created as an agent and as such his image would be a no possibility in the "Zion" matrix. A POSSIBLE (not definite) and plausible explanation.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say but Smith downloaded himself into Banes body, like Bane was about to do. That helps with the only one Matrix theory because Smith could not change a human form! If it was another Matrix then Smith would change it like all the oders inside the Matrix change when they are taken over by an agent. Doesn't this make sence?

something tells me that after revolutions we will be asking all new questions. but for the record there is only one matrix... trust me on that. well ... i have no difinitive proof, but a guy that lives in the hole in my backyard tells me that there cannot be another matrix

Also another point. When Smith takes over Bane's mind, he cuts his hand. I believe he is doing this to feel pain for the first time. How can he feel pain? because he is in a real body maybe?
