Anyway, an example of the show's bad writing is the end of Stannis' run, and more importantly Brienne's involvement in it and the (lack of) consequences.
Brienne found herself having to make a choice: either hunt down the man who killed the man she loved in the name of vengeance, or adhere to the knightly vow she made to Catelyn to protect Sansa Stark. She ultimately chose the former, and kills Stannis, forsaking her honor.
Now, this isn't bad writing in of itself (though the shit that led to Stannis being in this predicament was), but here's the problem: this huge character moment for Brienne had no consequence. The next episode she finds Sansa anyway in the nick of time and "heroically" rescues her from her would-be captors.
So why was there this big choice at all? Why did D&D build this decision up as a big character moment for Brienne, only to **** the consequences of it the very next episode? It's cheap drama, meant to bait the viewer into thinking there's a real moment of character development (in this case negative), only for the show to ignore it so Brienne can continue to be the hero. It's lazy and bad wriitng.
Better Twitter reaction than usual:

I like to follow the collective reaction to episodes, and the Ep. 2 reaction was muted bc we all knew it was going to happen. This was the first that was really cool, and is probably the best they've managed since the Mountain v. The Viper.
I liked this episode. First one in ages that made things move again: Jon and Sansa (possibly)
Spoiler:and Daenarys
heading for Winterfell to reclaim it, with the knights of the Vale
Spoiler:. Heck, even on the Theon front things finally start to move.
finally starting to move again
If they keep it up, we may be getting some excitement again in GoT.

I'm not sure how the Dothraki work, but somehow I felt likeSpoiler:
Dany burning their sacred temple and killing a bunch of Khals should have enraged them, not made them think she's some kind of God-Queen
Originally posted by Bardock42The dothraki respect power don't they, and Dany gives an almost mythical display of power. Not to mention she's not a total foreigner, she married into the dothraki and is officially one of them.Spoiler:
And all their bloodriders are just longing to kneel for a foreign woman.

Most people will tell you it is because she is tough and cool.
I'll tell you that it is because she's a pretty white lady and that this show rarely portrays minorities/ladies in a positive manner.
