Who is the majority that has been benefitting from EU policies?
Indians and Africans being put out of work by dairy giants from germany?
Romanian and British farmers going bankrupt?
I agree that the EU (and UN) are a necessary concept that should be used to tackle issues that need to be approached transnationally. However, presently EU is absurdly corrupt.

Something quite amusing with the E.U is there is this guy called Ion Lazer who lives part time in England and Romania.
He is one of them guys who walks about with trolleys in the streets robbing things from your front garden (It's happened to us a few times). He earns nothing virtually so he gets £17,000 a year in benefits. Now I'll ask you this. Do you reckon he's putting that money back into the country?
Of course not. He's using the money he gets from the British Government to pay for workers to build him a large house in Romania.
Meanwhile my own countrymen who have done service for our country, and people who are mentally ill or too poor to own a house end up homeless because the money goes to someone like him.
Rowling had made herself one of the most vocal public figures on the issue over the past few weeks with a steady flow of tweets, culminating in a blog post earlier this week that warned her fellow citizens against voting to leave the EU. In the blog post, she compared those on the Leave side to "villains" like Hannibal Lecter, Big Brother and her own character Lord Voldemort. Now, in light of the result, Rowling is going off on the voters she has called "a bunch of mini-Trumps." She retweeted someone calling UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage "an unspeakable piece of sh*t." She retweeted someone saying "all the wrong people are clapping" in response to a celebratory tweet by Marion LePen, niece of the leader of the French National Front.
The hell? When did voting to leave the EU become comparable to being an SS Stormtrooper? Or even a regular on Stormfront?

Britain generally finds racism to be incredibly unacceptable and the feeling is that most voted for Leave because they hate immigrants.
The irony is of course, that most Leave votes came from the country which has ridiculously tiny amounts of diversity. I live in the country and there's like, 12 non-white people in my entire town. Immigration is barely a thing here.
At least, I thought Britain hated racism......

I don't think it's necessarily true that that's why everyone voted Leave and even if they did there isn't anything bad about voting out of the E.U because of Immigrants. It just depends how you display your position.
You must live in a rural Hertforshire village or somesuch right (or just the country in general). Because in London and where I live that certainly isn't the case.

Are you in favor of leaving?

I didn't say it was (though I do believe Immigration was shown to be the leading factor for Leave voters), but the view certainly is that people against immigration are racists.
Well obviously London is diverse as ****. My Dad lives in London and he said that he could see where the Leavers were coming from because he once walked past kids leaving school and couldn't see a single "English" (white) kid in there. London isn't representative of the rest of the country. I live in Glastonbury and Somerset is generally stuffed with old white people. It's gotten better, but 10 years ago it was seriously a shock to see a black person walking down the street. It was that rare.

Shit I just realised I misread you I was reading country in your post and thought you meant England not the countryside. My minds been really messed up today. Apologies.
My Dad lives in the country too and there isn't a single non white person in the village.

What would you say to the people saying you will be worse off without the EU?
I'd say it's too early to tell a day after. If I was angry I'd say "Stop being a load of miserable old farts and get off your arse and stop moaning".
And if it did happen that we were drastically poorer (which I doubt). Or just poorer in general. All of this can be counteracted by living a simple life and not becoming a slave to technology and TV shows and being so obsessed with whatever the latest celebrity is doing. It's caring for your family that counts.
And it's also a point that we can be proud as a people that we are independent and we aren't governed by an unelectable force. Pretty similar to you in 1776.
But the whole point is I don't think it will be true. We will be fine. Something like the £ sinking is bound to happen. Because Mr Rich Banker and his mates can't scrape off an extra million £'s of our money like they used to. So they get angry and sell it off.
And the simple life (or simpler). Should be done even if you were the richest man in the world. The moment a nation or a people become enslaved to technology, TV and such we end up not being able to live without it shows what a failed society we may become.
That is interesting and that is somewhat similar to the attitude I see for most people who are in favor of leaving. Not necessarily the "adopt a simple life" part, but the general acknowledgement that there will be some growing pains and that in the long run it is worth it if things temporarily have to get a bit worse before they begin to get better.
