Speaking of strong female characters, the MCU already had some. No love for Scarlet Witch, who gets relegated to a shitty tv show now once Endgame is over?I'd be pissed if I was Elizabeth Olsen. SW has a lot of power so if they truly needed a "most powerful evah" female character she could have been it.
Plus she's not cringey as f*ck.
They have used her character badly, imo.
Her accent change WAS cringey AF though.

It sure sounds like the character of Captain Marvel herself sucks.
I've read positive reviews, and most do not mention how awesome the specific character of Cap was. It'll mention the female thing, it'll mention fight sequences, it'll mention Samuel L Jackson. But there is very little "Brie f*cking hit a home run here with her performance".

I agree with this
This entire thing is making me appreciate the WW movie more.
It's clear they set out to make a great superhero movie with a main character who just happens to be female. The movie took place during WW1 so it also made the "good lord she's a LADY!" reactions make a lot more sense.
Nobody should be able to defeat Thanos 1 on 1, that would destroy everything he was hyped up to be. As for who should be the one to do him in in that team effort, it should be:
4. Captain America- Dude is the righteous ****er and defender of Earth, one of the main faces of the MCU who seems more disturbed by what happened than any of the other heroes on Earth.
3. Thor- Dude is certainly one of the most powerful avengers, and not to mention his own personal connection with Thanos is earned, Thanos killed his best friend, brother, and half of his remaining people after Asgard had just been through tragedy. My only hesitation is that they already did this storyline in infinity war with a fakeout at the end.
2. Nebula- She has a seriously personal connection to Thanos, and has her heart dead-set on killing Thanos from basically the beginning, before anyone else does.
1. Iron Man- Dude is basically the face of the MCU, his movie started everything, he also has this personal connection to Thanos, he was the only hero Thanos was actually going to kill, and Doctor Strange saved Tony's life saying "it was the only way."
Regardless of how good Captain Marvel is as a character or how powerful she is, she shouldn't be able to defeat Thanos 1 on 1, otherwise it undercuts the entire threat Thanos poses to begin with.
And in a team effort she shouldn't be the principle player who deals the final blow to Thanos, because regardless of how good she is as a character or how powerful she is, it just wouldn't feel earned thematically or emotionally in comparison to characters who have a much more personal connection to Thanos, or who are potentially taking their final stand.
Originally posted by SurturThe strength of Brie's performance is not synonymous with the strength of Danver's character. Brolin's performance as Thanos was superior to Michael B. Jordan's performance as Killmonger, but Killmonger was overall the better character (it's close though).

Danver's character was okay. Nothing groundbreaking or especially interesting, but better than Scarlet Witch.
Thor should be the one to finish off Thanos though. Without a doubt.
The funniest part of the movie for me was when we were walking out and my sister turns to me and goes "Wasn't that basically She-Ra?".
But yeah, I thought neither Danvers nor Larson did a whole lot to really justify this idea that she's the next big thing. I still wanna see what the Russos do with her, though.
So, now it's time to put to rest this notion that "trolls" are the reason this is getting bad reviews. That's over with, trigger warning:
For those who don't wanna watch: RT purged tons of reviews, the movies score is still well below even the lowest rated Marvel movie(Hulk at 70%)

So it's "purging" fake negative reviews yet you can still easily read plenty of them but fake negative reviews aren't artificially lowering the score?
Makes sense 👍

Did you see Bruce’s meltdown and Rob cheerleading him.
