The gaming community's a different monster, but plot holes are called out with any movie. TLJ gets no special treatment... And lol, people only reference a certain part of RT if it suits their argument. That's nothing new.
Personally though I don't have very strong feelings for or against this movie. It was just kinda there.
No one is saying the gaming community is the same. It was to illustrate a point. Also, I don't mind people calling out plot holes. Not a film exists without those or other issues. My issue, obviously, wasn't with people calling out "plot holes" but I haven't seen much of that. I've seen people disagreeing with storytelling decisions or misunderstanding events that happened in the film and then claiming they're "plot holes."

No, it's not new. Just terribly widespread now, it seems. EVERY time I see someone criticize this movie, they bring up the audience score for external validation. I'm not sure why they think it's necessary. They're already the loudest group, by far, so why that or bastardizing Hamill's words and conspiracies about how he has a "gun to his head?" It's saddening.
I mean, it happened on this page in this thread:

All that means is people are divided but, coincidentally enough, it seems to almost always be followed by, "This movie was objectively terrible."
