Spoiler:

1. The force doesn't make you all knowing, it's like saying the Jedi couldn't see the order 66 coming. Palpatine couldn't see Vader turning but he did have a lot more time to react against a one armed cyborg without the force or his weapon in tossing him to his death.

Explained in the film. Ren was spiritually weakened due to Han's death and he was also shot and grazed by a Lightsaber.

2. Iyo but force feats never replaced how the characters stack up. We see Ben do what to Luke which you ignore your own reasoning to Snoke and his saber was drawn. Ben was younger and more inexperienced and pre I want to die alone version. Snoke creating a bridge between them was pretty amazing and he was beyond either in combat as he showed unlike Luke. Luke fell on his ass to Rey and was defeated by Ben.

3. Kylo was spiritually weakened, injured, etc. We will see. Kylo is better than she is so lets see the circumstances.

4. Feats don't prove superiority and never have. It's how they stack up. Rey can lift the rocks all over and Snoke doesn't have the feat but how did she stack up to him. She didn't. As if Snoke couldn't hurl those pods. He just wasn't in that situation.

Snoke has been confirmed by the actor to be greater than Palpatine and the film also does so. It's ok you disagree but your opinion isn't a fact.

Just as Starkiller > Death Star we have Snoke and the First Order as greater than Palpatine and the empire.

Meh, we watched 2 different movies. I'm pretty sure you're the only one in the world to think Snoke is > Emperor. But hey, it's your opinion and your're entitled to it. As far as Kylo more impressive than Rey? You're objectively wrong and it's obvious. Injury or not he got his ass handed to him by a noob Rey. If he was more powerful than her he would have been able to overpower her force pull on the lightsaber...and BOTH times he's tried he's either failed or tied. AT BEST, you could say they're equal... but that's a massive stretch and Kylo is going to get his ass kicked again in Episode 9 so it's just a matter of time until there is no debate who's stronger whatsoever.

In terms of power Serkis has stated so in an interview he is more powerful than Palpatine and Vader. If you're saying in terms of preference then it pleases me to be the worlds only true Snoke fan.

Injury as well as being spiritually cut in half due to his father's death. If you were playing one on one right after you killed a parent do you think that might affect your performance. Let's also say someone shot you prior to the game and cut your shoulder. They are equal in terms of force power as the force balanced out the light to meet Kylo's darkness. I meant in terms of overall skill and formidability Kylo is her superior.

We shall see. I do not believe he will get his ass kicked. I believe he will get the better of her skill wise in their duel but something else will occur not just her overcoming him with a light saber without any unforeseen circumstances occurring.

People overblow the whole “Kylo was injured” thing, and forget Rey already overpowered Kylo in the Jedi mind trick earlier in the film. She’s a Force powerhouse with no training, there’s just not much getting around that fact.

Yeah that’s why I shit all over IM3. And said MOS was better than Thor:TDW (both came out the same year).

Its still a factor as well as him spiritually being split. Yes, she's his equal in the force power. She's the light to meet his darkness.

That's one of my largest complaints about TFA and TLJ. It's REALLY hard to quantify for me, but yeah, agreed.

Love him or hate him...what's missing to make this "Star Wars" is George Lucas' touch.

He may not be the best of directors but he has great stories to tell.

This is just my guess. Perhaps it's not the lack of GL and it's something else.

I wish Quan and the others would put their intelligent minds to better use and not talk about vs. stuff...and talk about the movies. 🙁

I have already said this is the second best Star Wars film to date. It improves with rewatches.

I also disagree. Lucas threw us the Phantom Menace (I love him for Maul) but the movie is a disappointment and is stale. He also gave us Attack of the Clones which I found to be a another huge disappointment.

He hit it out of the park with Rots but Star Wars isn't his baby anymore. He had his hands all over six films. Enjoy those ones this is the Disney era and it's onward and upward.

Then I will take your advice and watch it a second time to see if it improves.

We have disagreed on this point, for years. I loved TPM and AotC. A lot. However, I do put RotJ above AotC.

I agreed on all points, here. RotS is still my favorite Star Wars film.

I already talked about this in TLJ thread....

Broomboi will be a grandmaster jedi in Episode 9

Wouldn't surprise me, considering his similarity with Boy Anakin.

I doubt it was mere coincidence that the end scene focused him!

That is true. If anyone could pull a George Lucas then there would be a hundred franchises as big as Star Wars is.

He may not be the best directors, but he is one of the World’s Greatest story tellers no doubt.

Gospel Truth, right here.

Let me know what you think after a rewatch. Looper for me was abysmal and boring and I later became obsessed with the film. I now love it. I have never done a complete 180 iirc to this degree. Rian Johnson is a talented director.

He leaves some subtle but significant things in there which you don’t notice until a rewatch.

Just preordered the Last Jedi on my ps4.

People are getting awful rosy over Lucas and forgetting that he failed in his vision plenty. Remember the 50's diner in AotC? Thats easily as bad as casino world. And we don't see a single person on the streets of Naboo or any of the supposed suffering the Trade Federation is inflicting on the populace. Not to mention his frankly grotesque racist caricatures. I don't know what you could be thinking those movies do that makes them feel more like Star Wars than the new ones.

Also, Ewoks do kind of suck. Lets just admit it.

😬

Comparing the Canto Blight arc to the Dex scene is rather disingenuous. Yeah, the Dex scene is terrible but it is also very short. The Canto Blight sequence is an entire arc of the movie.

Your criticism of people loving GL doesn't apply to me because I loved the PT and OT. 👆

Also, I never complained about "Casino World." Also, the SJW "save the animals" subplot is not a criticism I think is legit. The Yoda speech in Empire, to Luke, about the force is as about as Hippie as you can get. Respecting the universe and living within it has always been a "Star Wars" undertone. It's not a legit criticism of TLJ, imo. Just people trying to find excuses to hate the new movie.

Watched it, overall enjoyed it despite some silliness and flaws, but it also had some greatness. Do want to do a second viewing after a week or so and see if I see the same or different. Honestly not sure why some people think it's worse than cancer, the film is enjoyable.

Did laugh my ass off at

Spoiler:
Snoke being a throwaway villain
, that was different.

True, but I'd say that Canto Blight is far stronger than the Dex scene and less jarring so it being longer isn't so bad. Dex's diner is a total clash to the rest of Coruscant imo and personally I felt that what of saw of Blight was cool enough.

So you don't feel that anything I said was valid? Or any of the other myriad criticisms that have been made?

I just mentioned it because its a common criticism and I feel like people around the internet are turning a blind eye to Lucas' fumbles. But I am still curious about what exactly you thought was so much more Star Wars in the PT than the NT.
