That doesn't excuse IM 2, which was shit and forgettable, imo. Wan has a good streak, just like Jon. Jon started out doing small time comedies, while Wan did small time horror. It really depends on your tastes at this point. I'm a huge horror buff, so I give Wan the edge.
Lets not act like Aquaman is some grand achievement in direction, here. Iron Man 2 has its highlights; more than enough to contend with this movie.
I like horror too, but limiting the conversation only serves to help one side, which isn't right imo.
Saw this film; very good addition to DC cinematic verse. One of DC's finest in a long span.
However, I disliked the impression that normal humans were fodder to ocean dwellers. This kind of nonsense takes away from the tension [plot-wise and otherwise].

USN should pick all Hollywood directors, put them in an underwater observatory, and test a nuke [underwater] just a few miles away. The directors would be peeing in their pants, and crying like children.

Well, Wan hasn't yet made the sequel. I never assumed it would be good or bad. IM 2, however? I know is bad.
Well thats your opinion. But funny thing is even IM2 scores better with both audiences and critics than Aquaman. (Im not saying it is better, but interesting to point out given your 1 argument here is - Look how bad IM2 was).
Favreau gave us IM1 and Jungle Book, both of which were simply Amazing. And You Know Lion King is gonna be just as amazing. So theres really no comparison for me.

You're only using one source. Look at some of the oversea ratings. In China, Aquaman is the highest rated super hero movie of all time there. Same with Brazil, etc.
Jungle book was really good, but not great.

China has completely different tastes, yeah. I mean They dont even like Star Wars. Not any of them!
2 sources - CinemaScore and Rotten Tomatoes.
But im not seriously arguing IM2 > Aquaman Lol
But IM1 and Jungle book are both greater than anything Wan has done. No comparison for me.
And yes Jungle Book was fantastic.

Good grief Patrick Wilson got swole. In that first picture above, he did not skip leg day (or chest, arms, shoulders, or anything day).
Hes making me feel lousy for completely missing the gym this week. Wont get like that with entire weeks off!

IMDB (as of now) and RT audience also has a higher score. Its just not China, but Aquabro has strong legs throughout the world, which is a good way to gauge the wom of the general audience. No wonder it'll make a billion right off the bat.
Wan Billion!! 😛 Wan is a crowd pleaser, which is why his films gross so much. The same can be said with Jon F. But I think more has to do with nostalgia, such as Jungle Book and Lion King.
Audience scores are the lowest of the lowest. It's a garbage tool to gauge popular movies most of the time.
With salty asshurt groups down voting or up voting their favorite movies to alter the scores.
I rather have movie critic scores even though a small percentage might be biased than audience scores that 80%+ of the people mass voting are biased or have agendas.

Why do I have to keep explaining to you and Quan that box office does not equate to quality. The DCEU and Star Wars Making money does not mean they are churning out quality products. Although consistent bad quality can lead to a downward trend over time, and vice versa.
But Pretty much everyone whose seen the films out right now agree Bumblebee is > Aquaman. Yet Bumblebee is flopping and Aquaman heading to a Billion.
Jungle Book came just under a Billion anyway. It was an amazing accomplishment in film making.
Favreau is simply > Wan IMO. And its honestly not close (to me).

Quality is a matter of taste and opinion. If you look at the ratings, both Wan and Jon average 7.4/5 ratings. Even Jungle Book, which has a solid rating.
I'm not just using Box office.
