In reality I don't think a 14 year old kid would be concerned about that.

There's not much reality in these films but I s'pose

That can be said for any comic movie.

Yes, yes it can

finally saw Shazam...

It drags in a few places... the jokes were very corny but they worked..

I can see why Dwayne Johnson was shelved until the sequel..

Zack Levi was pretty good in the role.. this is a solid 7/10

Saw this today. It was ok, pretty fun at times. Wasnt great or anything though.
As far as tone and look, it feels like it belongs in the same category as movies like Spy Kids, Shark Boy and Lava Girl, Sky High, and the Percy Jackson movies more than a regular super hero flick or a movie like Goonies.
Not really my cup of tea, but i can see certain people liking this type of movie.

Exactly

I was worried about Levi, because I've seen nothing of him other than Thor, but he made it work.

So it's a solid sleeper hit and a sequel has already been announced. I find it hilarious how this is happening with Shazam while DC & Warner Bros. continue to struggle with how to do Superman properly. 😆

Correct.

Shazam! Sequel Reportedly Signs Writer, Expects Director's Return

^ Well Im glad because I loved the film and box office wise it is struggling to break even. I don't think this will come close to $400mill.

This is the review I was looking for. Thanks!

I'll see this with my brother later this week. I don't have high hopes so it shouldn't disappoint.

I didn't like it as much as I thought I would.

There's some pretty serious issues of abandonment that really felt out of place for a family friendly movie.

I overall enjoyed this, I also went in with lower expectations and the mindset that this was aimed more for the younger crowd than adults.

This is Ant man status so no. Its domestic numbers are terrible. AM was a hit this is Ant Mans little brother. The general public does not really care about this film.

I had families at my showing.

Shazam is at about 300 million right now and it only has about 2 more weeks before it disappears into obscurity with 'Endgame' coming out. It might not do Ant Man numbers.

I know hence why i referred to it as ant mans little brother. It is pathetic. Am and WW were hits and well liked. This is a joke tbh.

Shazam was relatively low(er) budget at around $100m, so it doens't have to make half a billion to be seen as a success. It's likely already made a very decent profit; if it hits 400m, that's a huge success.

Advertising costs which probably are close to 100 m and they dink’s keep all of the box office. Only a certain percentage which tends to be higher domestically and less internationally depending on the country. China tends to take a high percentage.

Do not keep.
